Guys,

I've been asked to provide a backdated receipt for a car a purchased 7 years ago.

Apparently the guy is being investigated for moneys into his accounts, and he needs this to prove the money was legit.

Happy to provide it, as i did buy the car off him, but just wanted to know where i stand and what your opinions are...

Should i provide it?

Try that Rob

As above, it can't do any harm if you just make sure you don't put something in writing that isn't accurate or honest.
