Looked into this kind of thing a while back and swerved towards gold then swerved towards physical stocks of precious metals and then thought "bollocks to it" and went part time!

If you need liquidity (i.e quick access) your potential interest gained will be next to nothing. You can get the dosh out at the Post Office so that's easy enough for most people (no notice from memory)

Safe as you like in real terms (unless the government collapses)

I hate to say it, but these days it's probably a better bet than some property

We slapped 25k in from a flat sale a couple of years back and averaged wins better than bank interest rates. Anecdotal evidence I know, but hell, you may strike gold :-) Both my kids savings are in bonds too as Stu says in this climate they're a fair bet.

Spunk it on premium bonds mate. Liquid if you need them, safe because they have to be. The only people making real money on the Forex etc are those that can afford to lose the lot

There was a Martin Lewis thing on TV a while back and even he actually said they were ok........but one thing he did say was that if you win nothing in the first year cash them in and buy again......as said previously better than interest in the banks if you win......
