Big and Shiny part 2!! (Logan's spare Evo)

I was lucky enough to be recommended to valet Blacky's spare Evo, and today was the day that we'd agreed to give the 7 it's winter clean up prior to sale. Logan and I discussed his requirements during the week and a straight rinse, shampoo, towel dry, polish and wax was lined up..............and then he decided to use on his weeks running about and I rocked up at his with it looking a bit worse for wear :D
Image
No, as you can see it wasn't too bad at all and I love cleaning Evo's anyway, so this was a great excuse to spend hours and hours daydreaming :)
The usual dirt traps were plain to see, but I was pleased Logan warned me about the fresh paint to the bonnet and splitter as that meant slightly different processes later on. More dirt

I have to say that the car was in good nick for an 11 year old car, and I was confident that I could make some pretty good improvements without too much trouble.........that was before the wet weather got a lot worse...
Image
It rained hard from just after 9am to about midday, and when it wasn't raining it was hail :D. I got bloody soaked! I had towelled the car down once between showers, and then it started again. Thankfully at this time Logan popped out to swap the race evo, hiding in the garage for the spare one! Thank the lord!!

Under the lights of Logan's garage (with booster lights no less) it was easier to see some of the paint imperfections. The paint on the roof was a bit flat but quite typical on a white car, and pretty much standard on a white Evo roof! You can see how little light is reflected in this next photo.....

A few more marks were dotted around, but overall, one very straight car.
Image
These marks were quickly polished out and the car looked a hell of a lot tidier after a good coat of wax was applied! The glass was also polished, exhaust blinged, engine bay was tweaked, door shuts done, interior was hoovered (thanks Logan) dash and doorcard sorted out and tyres protected and cleaned.

And then it stopped raining!! Typical :)
Image
I was pleased that, even in the fading light, you could see how good the reflection was and how straight the shut lines were, and how nice the general condition is

H-tec's new paint work and freshly cleaned finish

Big improvement in the paint finish on the roof, but I'd love to go back and get it 120% :D

No point having a Blitz Nur spec surrounded by carbon without it looking gorgeous!

A rose between two thorns :D

Thanks again to Logan for the opportunity to work on the car, and for the hospitality too. Cameron was on fine form, and once he stopped asking/telling me to build towers he allowed me to go outside and get stuck in :)

Whoever buys this car will be getting a really nice car in genuinely great condition. The fact that is probably goes like a missile helps a bit too

More fun, more affordable, more tunable, more easy to sell on blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah :)

The thing that made me smile with this car was how well it 'flourished' under some elbow grease. I'm not some kind of genius with polish and wax, but Logan's Evo was a delight. Japanese paint is notoriously thin and of 'varying' quality and white doesn't help in this respect. I tried a brand new version of polish on Logan's car as it had been recommended to me and the results, I hope, speak for themselves (well worth the money). Pretty easy to use and very easy to see differences with application. And this was all on a car that was pretty good in the first instance.
