My old Fizzy!

Post by russ979 »

I know its not normal bigpower material and i did nt think i would start a project thread on it as nothings going to get done on it anytime soon, So i thought id put it here??

I picked up my old 1975 N reg Yamaha fsie the other week from my mums house and thought i would share a few photos of the 50cc power house!:smilielol5:
These old things are fetching some serious money now being the early un-restricted pedal model. Whenever i mention that i have it normaly i am then asked "do i want to sell it?" the answer is always "no" I have owned it since the 1980`s and it was given to me by my grandfather who bought it in `77 (i still have his purchase recept for it;)) I used to rip about snettisham beach on it as teenager and have many happy memories blasting round the marshes and private beach roads on it although it has not been on the road since 1977.
I laughed myself silly last week as i watched a later model restoration project on ebay make good money with only 6 former keepers and 12,000 miles on it. Mine has a genuine 1556miles (it only had 1200 when i got it) and my reg doc has just one former keeper!- Yes i feel smug!:D
Yes mine needs total restoration as its been covered up in the back of my mums shed and garage for the last twenty years!
These are the pictures as it is, covered in dust/cobwebs and with barnfind style flat tyres (the rear was/is brand new and still has the sticker in it) actualy the bikes not that bad under all the crud!

I have got the front mud guard and several spares and a haynes manual so one day i might get round to restoring it, or maybe not? I know i wont part with it!:D

It was the first one after the pedals had been taken off. It was by no means standard though. 65cc big bore kit. Cafe racer clip ons, rear sets, Bikini fairing and belly pan all finished in a glorious gloss black. :D

As I said, I loved that fizzy  :D

At 16 yrs of age Fizzys WERE big power!!

Sadly I was never persistent enough for the folks to let me have one. I got a CG125 soon after leaving home tho.

That sounds like it was a right giggle?
This should be the fizzy nostalgia thread!:D Have you got any old pictures of it?

Absolutly mate! That is the plan. I would like to get it running again as its not run for the last twenty years, I do recon that the fuel thats still in it has well and truely gone off! I love the smell of stale fuel as it reminds me of the ur...um...fizzy.:blush5: That said i remember when i got it from grandad along with a puch VS50 (that was bright yellow) and a yamaha Ys125(that i never got running) all the bikes had been laid up in his shed for about ten years yet the fizzy still ran on its ten year old fuel!!

I could n`t agree more. Even my little old thing was still good for nearly 50mph which looking back was crazy on concrete broken roads with little or no protection but we were young, we fell off, we bounced, we brushed our selves down, took the piss then got back on and carried on!
The good old honda CG125! I cant belive they are still churning them out in china today.http://fastvehicle.en.made-in-china.com ... G125-.html

My god, they're still fitting that awful front drum brake!

Was a great bike at the time. 60mph throttle on the stop, 65+ downhill, did 105mpg everywhere. Was one of the few 125s that never needed restricting for learner use since it only ever had 11bhp!

Great project Russ -

I seem to remember it was always a toss up between the fs1e and the Suzi ap50 as to which was quickest - I went straight to an xs250 so I missed out on all the screaming fun and hot chip fat smell :p

There's nothing that shouts "Poor Workmanship" more than wrinkles in the Gaffer tape.....
