Bought this a while ago as it contained one of the best tracks in the world in Japan.....Ebisu.

I was initially against buying it because of the 7s out of 10 reviews but because of the few vids I had seen, the constant coverage on Speedhunters (who had a say in the testing) and the stream of addons inc new cars, tracks and more importantly challenges (listen up Polyphony and Forza people !!) I decided to give it a go.

To start with I was unimpressed, the handling seem a bit 'slidey', the look left and right werent quick, the ai was a bit dodgy. However putting more time into it I have completely changed my mind and it has been a bit of a revelation for a driving sim.

Firstly because of the sense of speed, I had often felt that driving any car at over 150mph in a sim felt a bit bland and without drama or a sense of speed. Shift 2 fixes this by blurring out the cockpit and making the depth of field much deeper, its a nifty effect but really does heighten the sense you are travelling fast. Also the sound of the cars, the tyre screech, the stones chipping the bumper or arches are all catered for......its incredible.

I'll mention the graphics, whilst not the best framerate in the world certainly more than playable. The amount of detail at the tracks is phenomenal and much better than the other sims. The Ring (despite the odd fancy marquees) was exactly as I remember it. Also there are leaves that blow up, bug splats, splats from oil and dirt on the windscreens etc.

The amount you can do on the game is huge, probably nearer Forza size and it doesnt matter what you are into whether its Drift, Time attack, normal Racing.......everything is catered for !!

Right the handling, yep it is a bit slidey and had to make some adjustments to the settings for my wheel but once I had it really makes it much better. Its not GT or Forza but somehow I feel that if you go into a corner at 60mph plus you are going to slide somewhat.

There are a load of real world tracks inc Donnington, Silverston, the Ring and GP circuit, Suzuka, Laguna Seca, Road Atlanta and my personal favourite.....Bathurst !! Only omission is Tsukuba but I guess thats because the others have it.

The car selection is superb, FWD, RWD, 4WD, GT1,GT3, Drift cars etc they are all there and look and sound sublime !!

I would urge if you are after a balls out racing game that you go for it, see if you can find it for
