On a certain Sierra forum, there's a guy at the other end of the country with a Pug 309 GTi Goodwood model, leather, 4 door, reasonable miles, standard spec........I've always wanted one of these, but I'm only just getting the Sierra where I want it. He's offering a potential swap, but it's temptation....I'll see if he can send me some pictures for your delictation (It's the dark green model if you're interested!)

Must admit I do like the 309 GTi and the Goodwood variant. A friend of mine had a GTi back in the day, very quick and a lot of fun. Would i have one now....yes, but only as a weekend play thing. IMO the sierra is a more all round package, far more comfortable than the 309, roomier and can be made to go like stink.......

It would have to be a minter to be worth swopping the old girl for:willy_nilly:

I always wanted a goodwood - I'd do it - only if it was mint ... my 1.6 205 is basically the same as the goodwood in colour, leather - just doesn't have the two tone wheels.

A real tough call Rob!
I would say that unless a 309gti was ever on your wish list of cars, Then i would think you are better off sticking with the sierra as you know it inside and out and as you know can be fixed for peanuts. You know that it is totaly solid throughout. Although 309`s were brilliant at resisting the tin worm i would not say the same for twenty year old french electrics! And Lastly your sierra will only go up in value from now on as will probably the 309? But as its a 309 and will always be in the shadow of the 205 (run out model or not) Is it realy a good move?

(stick with the silver one rob)

Thanks for the input gents.
I've always had a soft spot for the 309's...............but I've had a word with myself and will be sticking with the "old girl".
1. It's still only done 42k and 11k of that is with me (The other ones done 3 times that)
2. I've got the stuff to get mine (Hopefully) over 130 bhp, so it should be as peppy as the 309 with some time and effort
3. It does nt have 16 year old French electrics (A good point well made)

I could go on, but I think the fact the car was so far away saved me getting over excited and doing something daft.
I think because mines been so reliable and easy to live with has made me take it for granted a little.
Best I get my arse in gear and start doing it up.
Besides, I can't have the TNT boys having the only Sierra on here ;)

No its not Rob!:blush5: To try and cut a long story stort....When Em and i met she was a biker chick having a suzuki gsxr to get her kicks. That went when we bought our house and for the last five or six years she`s been all mumzie driving a sensible family wagon. Now she`s always liked the 3`s and a little while ago i caught her on autotrader looking them up- so the seed was sown. I`m sure its a common senario, you start looking locally thinking of part ex`ing, then start looking further a field and the budget starts growing as you find one thats got a better spec etc... before you know it you are way over the budget you started out with setting your heart on something that in truth you just can`t afford! Anyway an mps would be lovely but for the daily grind it just would not be sensible:( So too tick the practicality/style and budget box we settled for the 2.0 sport diesel:blush5: we ended up buying a 2007 143bhp model with all the option box`s tick from new with full leather, parking sensors, ipod dock etc, plus the normal sport stuff like climate, bose audio, xenon`s 17`s (which i like, remind me of the ford titanium jobbies) we bought it from a private trader (so no px,but a nice price) I must say the chassis is fantastic!(I know its basically a focus) and even for a wesel it is quite fun plus it will work with the same chip that is on mine and realy fly?
Oops you did ask! waffle over!:blush5:
