My hard drive on this laptop has an imbalance in the partition sizes on the hard drive. My C drive has 34gb and is nearly full and my D drive is also 34gb but is pretty much empty.

How do I reallocate the hard drive space?

partition magic. delete the emptyish partition. then resize the fat one. there's no good reason for having more than one.

I'm not sure I agree with Maff on the not having more than 1 as its a good way of separating the operating system and software and data you want to backup. Especially if you have a massive harddrive.

Partition magic is definitely the way to go.

Just make sure you backup some essential files to disc !!!!

Yeah, you can download partitionmagic but becareful of your download source, there are alot of dodgy copies around.

Or, as you are extending into what is likely be contiguous space (once you delete your data partition), why not try diskpart command line tool that is shipped with xp? http://support.microsoft.com/kb/325590

Either method *could* trash the partition you are extending so do backup critical files first.

All done now chaps. I used a rather useful tool called 'Blind luck'. Instead of backing things up, you weigh up the pros and cons of losing all of your data and then press the big red button anyway.
