Project: me :D

Post by Daniel »

Hi guys, i know this is pretty weird but i want to keep a sort of diary/update thread going of me loosing weight so it'll keep me on track. :smash:

basically ive gotten to the point where im sick and tired of being so heavy and struggling to find clothes to fit etc so ive got my arse into gear for my own sake.

i'll be adopting the tablet and excersise approach to loose weight, ideally i want to shift about 5/6 stone (am currently 21 and a bit :piggy:) but to have these tablets i need to get checked out and assesed to make sure that having these tablets wont give me any dangerous side affects.

so i went to the doctors yesterday (first time in 15 years) and was checked out. had my blood pressure taken and tbh you just saw his face drop it was 170 over 100 which is stupidly high and puts me in a very high risk catagory. so intantly it was a no for the tablets and a blood test was in order just to make sure my organs are okay :) now in order to have tese tablets i need to increase my excersises and change my diet to lower the pressure and for this week take pressure tests at home twice daily and log the results. 'if' my average across the board is within 130 over 80 im okay to have them, so here's hoping.

also the other added benifit is, my power to weight in the MR2 is going to increase

Please.....no photos of the bodywork!!

Funny that you should post this up Dan; I was tempted to do the same. I am no clinical expert so I shan't pass comment on your BP but I would say that it's obviously very high, even more so for someone so young. Still, your age is an advantage and as I know you don't drink, your exercise routine will start to have an impact quite quickly.

Best of luck. I'm 19st 4lb and doing the same. Not starting a bloody project thread though ;)

cheers for that Les, im really looking forward to it. 5 months isnt a long time to loose weight that'll put years back onto your life :smash: and no, no nudity photos dont worry

yeah i shant lie, the BP rate is absolutley rediclious for anyone. but again as you say my age does have an advantage and im just glad i dont drink or smoke (except clutches)

wow im heavier than you by 2 stone! maybe we should see who looses the most weight over a month :willy_nilly:

hope your weight loss works out too Stu, all we need now is to get James involved ;)

cheers Trev. tbh i know what you mean, its hard to do. but you'll get there :)

Ive been wanting to shift pounds too, best of luck Dan with it, it is difficult and by all means not easy but its well worth it!!

Despite what people may think who have seen me, and i know Stuart has joked in the past but at the beginning of december i weighed myself.. on the WEIGHBRIDGE :D at work.. Ive never thought i was that big really 6Ft 36in waist, just fairly broad maybe... :leaving:

I came in at 129KG... (20.3 Stone) and thats about as accurate as scales will get too, and to be the heaviest member at Snetterton that was it for me!!

Since then, i went to the doctor, got the smack in the face with blood pressure and then the horrible "Morbidly Obese" talk.. Charming. I had major water retention issues storing somewhere 27 pints over average..They dont consider bone structure, muscle/fat ratio etc etc..

Anyway, i started the Cambridge Diet in December lost 1.5 Stone by Christmas along with some light, and i mean light exercise.

Obviously i ate main meals over xmas but im back on it. Down to 18.3 Stone currently, and now quitting smoking as well which is fairly difficult :(

i admire you Dan for trying it, and as people say best of luck, you like me im sure will feel much better for it.. :smash:

Good luck with this Dan , not that i am an expert but don't set too bigger targets to start with just keep it nice and steady don't beat yourself up if you only loose a little sometimes it all adds up in the end. As for diet don't eat shit ( fizzy drinks ,sweets , high sugar stuff ) i started to put a pound or two on and thought it was my bacon butties but i cut out these sugar items and it made all the difference , stopped my bloody migranes aswell ;)

if you have a sweet tooth as i have Andrea found me some agave nectar which is an organic natural sweetener ,this i have in my porridge and cups of tea and it tastes fine.

Good for you Dan and good luck with your programme.

I didn't realise there are so many fat gits on here. Don't count me out though, I may be a lightweight, compared to most of you but being a short-arse with it means the height to width ratio makes me your equal.

I've resolved to lose a couple of stone or more as I find the excess to be bloody uncomfortable. Packing up smoking, a few months ago, hasn't helped so I need to divert a little abstinence discipline to the food intake.

Be interesting to hear how everyone gets on.

i wish you all the best mate for the training but if you dont mind id like to give you some advice if thats ok with you. i work at the university of birmingham sports centre so can offer any advice you like.

points you need to take on board for effective work out.
1. you need to heart beat around 130BPM for fat burning anythink over
145 becomes cardio
2. with being the wieght you are avoid running as this breaks down your
cartlidge in your knees and ankles which leads to arthritus in later life
3. start slow but you have to do more than 20min for it to be affective
4. allow your body good time to rest and recover so do 3 workouts a
week
5. its easy to lose wieght in the first month the hardest part is keeping it
of and trying to lose more
6. at least once a week treat your body to a muscle relax bath (radox is
good) to help with recovery. best time is late evening the same day
after a workout couple hours before bed.
7. best exersise to start with is swimming, power walking or on a machine
like a cross trainer

i hope that ive not affended you with putting this up mate i just like to give people the
right advice in how to acheve a goal because alot of people give up at first hurdle.
