Whiff Whaff

Post by Gerry H »

Started playing table tennis again, a couple of years ago, after a break of too many years. Liz and I both really enjoy it (she usually wins our games  ).

We joined a local club and play a couple of evenings a week. Great fun and very cheap, although you can pay silly money for bats and that's all you need.

Anyone else ping pong?

I used to play in my local league years ago, and I mean about 20 years ago. I would love to get back into it again but I just don't have the time (or the fitness :D ) at the moment.

My Daughter has expressed an interest in it too but I don't think she would get into it seriously.
I may be getting older but I REFUSE to grow up :D

I used to. Was Sussex junior runner up a couple of times but not played seriously for many years apart from a few knock abouts.

Well you only have to look at me to know that fitness doesn't stop you enjoying it. :o

Nothing much else to do on the long cold winter nights and there's plenty of clubs or sports halls around.

There's no way I'd want to be on a squash court with you Stu! There's enough brick walls to run into without having a mobile one :D

Anyway, I'm too knackered for squash but badminton doubles is good. :)

When I used to play regularly, my mates used to try to avoid our games in our mini league for two reasons. Firstly, the reason you mentioned. They alleged that I could be a little difficult to get around. Secondly I would try to occupy a position at the back of the court as I always tried to get my opponents running around. This also gave me the chance to fire a yellow dot as hard as my 19 stone carbon framed, oversized racket assisted power could muster (pretty damned hard) straight at their bodies!!
Well..........I have been known to get competitive

Fancy an inter-forum scrap?
Badders
Squash
Cross country etc :D

Badders mixed doubles would be good.I couldn't get enough oxygen for singles or the other two.

Don't know about table tennis now as there's so many eperienced players AND a Sussex county junior runner upper, or whatever he said he was :D
