New Addition

Post by ants13 »

I know there are some dog lovers on here so I thought I'd post this up.

After losing my last dog, Cassie, six months ago, We've finally decided to get another.

She's a 3 year old bitch, we were told she wouldnt be that big, but shes quite a size.

her names Sky

Shes an Alaskan Malamute, from rescue, and shes absolutly stunning.

Razza has been over this evening and she is as tall as him when she stands on her back legs.

Gonna be fun training her

Are they relatives to huskies then ? As a chap round my way has one and he uses a big skateboard which the dog pulls him along with, he can go crazy fast as well.

Huskies, Malamutes, Akita's and a few other breeds are all in the Spitz family of dogs.

There pretty much the closest domestic relative to wolves.

You can get big 3 wheel rigs etc and race teams of dogs for a bit of a laugh.

I love these dogs and would like one myself at some point.
Are they hard to train being close relatives to wolves then?

Lovely looking dog :thumb:

Dog Borstal, last night, had a Siberian Husky tat had an ASBO for howling all night :o

As with all dogs, the owner is usually the problem. :D
Handle every stressful situation like a dog. If you can't eat it or hump it, piss on it and walk away!

Luckily she is trained to a degree already, but as long as you start training them young then there is no reason for them to be hard to train.

There closeness to wolves shows in other aspects, like if they see small animals, (cats, rabbits, jack russels!!!!), they just try to hunt them and eat them!
Also if theya re off the lead they dont always come back, instead prefering to listen to there wild side and just run!

Nik, I'll introduce you tommorow and I bet she trys to knock you on your arse!!! :D
