Anyone into RC Cars ?

Post by RX7 »

Hi Chaps,

Simple thread really, anyone into RC cars ? I have been an RC helicopter man and also built a plane but gave up flying them when my local field stopped letting people fly them and I bought the RX. Theres no room in the car for a .30 sized Helicopter and all the bits to fit in !!!!!

Always been interested in cars and was very tempted in getting a Yokomo drift car. Ben and my old manager is an RC nut and used to race competitively and represented the UK on a number of occasions. Em and I went to see him race at Snetterton (the RC track...not the real one!!) and it was breathtaking the speed they run and the control needed for these. A big difference from the Nikko, Tyko, Fisher Price lol etc ones you have as a kid that come ready built.

I happened to be looking on the Tamiya site and look what I found.....

Now I know what you are thinking and about to say 'It'll be Gareths only RX7 on the track!!'
You bunch of piss takers !!!!!

I am guessing I cant use my Helicopter RC gear and would have to buy new stuff, is this cheap ?
Does anybody race in Norfolk and if so where ?

Just looking at the mo but when I saw the kit my mouth dropped and I felt like Andy Warhole 'I want that one!!!!!!!!!'

Speak to the people up snetterton or speak to Kellers, they use to run racing at the YMCA in Trowse on a Sunday night I think. I raced 1/10th electric cars for about 3-5 years. You can spend silly money if you want. Still got all my gear! Good fun but stopped when I got a real car :-D

I race in Essex although i dont seem to race as much anymore.

I entered the KO GP last year but unfortunately had to miss it.

I run an EX works, Andy Thompson built Losi XXX-S Graphite. I run it in both stock and turn spec.

Normally race on minipins but have done some outdoor asphalt events such as west london etc.

Pic of my race car if anyones interested.
