After getting the new axle back to the garage and getting the broken axle off, we discovered that it was the wrong one. The off side shock mount was on the wrong side of the axle. We decided that we had no option but to fit it anyway, as a Discovery in the workshop imovable with no axle wouldn't help us to get through the next day work one little bit
We worked untill 10.30pm on Wednesday night fitting the axle, making up new metal brake pipes that sheared off etc. We cut off and welded the shock mount to the right side of the axle and also fitted a 3" lift kit comprising of new springs, bump stops, shocks and braided brake hoses
Together with the oversize tyres, it now sits about 7" higher than standard 8) There is still lots more to be done when time permits, but it's all up and running again now.
So fancies comming out to play at Bures Pit just North of Colchester this Sunday?
