You did what you were trained to do- Assess, be steady and calm, and act decisively. I doubt many would be able to get so many decisions processed under such pressure. Self doubt is natural, especially when people are placed under stress and "the world" is watching. The fact of the matter is he is still alive and his wife has a husband due to YOU. The kids were spared the horror because of your decisions and clear thinking, and it is understandable you link the two. I think back to an accident I went to over ten years ago. A bike hit a car doing a U turn. The bike was doing about 120, and hit the Escort hard enough to put it on its side. There were casualties everywhere, from shocked passers by, to the guy from the bike laying in the road minus aleg but still alive. I was there on my own, and struggled to think clearly assessing the injuries. A member of public was kneeling on the remainder of the leg to stop him emptying out, and was screaming at me to help. But by then I'd seen the passenger of the car unconscious and fearing a head injury, told him to calm down and keep at it while I dealt with the passenger. I still question this decision, but to err is to be human. We are not robots, nor exposed to this stuff all the time (thank god) . Please speak to someone about this mate.
