That is a plasma .. it's 1080P, 1080S, picture image is awesome, 3 x HDMI etc ... I mainly play consoles through mine with component and it's crystal clear

I don't like LCD once you get to big screens.

I'm looking to get a 50inch of the Samsung next month .. only

Gerry,

The one posted above the Samsung PS42A457 isnt 1080P, only 1080i and thats why it is cheap as the later models come with full HD.

For a 42 inch plasma with full hd you are looking at

G .. it is 1080P .. it's the one Steve bought last week .. when we looked at it in the shop it's got a 1080P sticker on it ... I questioned it initially.

Mine is deffo 1080p also

Fine value for money and as good as anything of a similar price. John Lewis are a great recommendation. The warranty alone makes it worthwhile; just make sure they have the set that you want in stock.

Thanks guys. You've just illustrated what I mean about a minefield :D

Ben: The Samsung isn't listed as 1080p on their website its 1024 x 768
http://www.johnlewis.com/230476262/Product.aspx

Stu: Yous is also not 1080p from what I can find by Googling.

Gareth: I do hve Freesat HD already. I'm looking to future proof by going for 1080p and 100Hz. As I'm an armchair F1 fan, I'd like smooth, fast, motion.

Jase: Your satisfaction with LG is reassuring and the model I mention above does look good vfm at

Whoops :)

I'll dig out the part number from the label on the back of the telly (when we've stopped watching it) but I'm pretty sure its P for progressive rather than I as in interlaced.

Either way it's gorgeous and much better than watching anything on it than the other TV'S I have.
