The Departed

Post by Stuart »

Just watch it. It is simply the best film I have seen in years, oozing quality in the actors (Matt Damon, Jack Nicholson, Leonardo di Caprio, Mark Wahlberg, Clair Forliani, Ray Winstone and Martin something or other~the dude out of the West Wing), the direction (Martin Scorcese), the soundtrack (The Who amongst many others) This film makes you realise just how much crap they release these days.

28 Weeks Later

Gotta say it is an amazing film, great typical horror scenes, enough blood to fill the swimming pool at UEA and suprisingly scary in places !!!

If you loved the original one then you will love this......that Rage virus is bad and looked even better in this one than the prequel.

Crap film alert.....Spiderman 3

A pretty vague storyline that was just boring in places (imagine the Peter Parker + Mary Jane + Harry love triangle going on and on and on for the whole 2 1/2 hours!), special effects overdone in practically every single sequence, too many baddies and not enough of one of them eg Venom.

Lets just hope they dont make yet another one.....otherwise it will be like the Batman series (excluding the first 2 and 'begins).....Batman and Robin anyone.....dire !!!

Very very disappointing after the 2nd one was so good.

The Pursuit of Happyness

This may surprise some of you but I enjoy a good drama, and the latest film from Will Smith was really very good indeed. It is based around the true story of Chris Gardner, an ordinary man with extraordinary strength of character.

The synopsis is this~ a single father does his best by his young Son (played by Will Smiths 7 year old boy, the youngster is a revelation) against all odds. The triumph of the film for me, is how it makes the viewer consider their own position in life, how fortunate we are in real terms and it does this by showing the disproportionate distribution of wealth in modern society. I am sure I am not alone in thinking that sometimes I have been hard done by......seriously guys. Watch this film. It is one of the most moving films I have watched in a long while, I don't mean sad for the sake of it, but it involves and engages you like few others. I found it uplifting to be honest and it underlines how versatile Will Smith is. One of our generations finest entertainers me thinks.

I hate to disagree with you big man but I thought The Pursuit of Happyness just dragged on. Yeah it was a sad story but I just didnt feel anything for the characters and I spent most of the film looking at my watch thinking......this is 2 hours I am never gonna get back !!!!

I think Will Smith should concentrate on making great films like Bad Boys 1+2, Enemy of the State etc, it was as disappointing as Men in Black 2 and Wild Wild West.

Sorry.....

No worries G. Each to their own. These films either engage you or they don't.

I didn't think 28 weeks later was that good. It started off pretty well then turned into a chase film that was full of holes in the plot. Why did Robert Carlile keep turning up zombiefied? I did like the very ending and I'm sure there will be a 28 months later.

Has anyone seen the transformers trailer?

http://www.transformersmovie.com/main.html

Go to the trailers section(obviously) and it' there. I'm going to have to go and watch some girl film crap to get enough points with my girlfriend for her to sit through this.
