The RAC and AA no longer offer recovery to road legal race cars or track cars no matter what level of cover you hold. They will only recover you on a pay and use basis.

I always thought AA had that policy anyway? When my Mini cooked itself at Snetterton I had a real hard time trying to get AA to take it away even with it pushed outside the circuit. (There was a bribe involved.)

They've never collect cars from circuits but due to the increasing cases of broken down cars just outside circuits that in some cases needed to be recovered hundreds of miles they have now put a blanket ban on them.
Even if you're in the middle of a town centre and obviously not been on track.

I see a whole area of grey here just waiting for a Watchdog investigation......at what stage is a car deemed to be a track car and who makes the call? I suspect in the eyes of the law if a car is taxed, insured and MoT'd then it is deemed fit for the public highway and as such should not be discriminated against

Our car with all it's graphics etc is a no go as far as they are concerned and that was after the bloke phoned his office for about 10mins. I do at some point plan to contact their customer service dept. It is unfair but it was the easiest solution for them to a growing problem that was costing them a lot of money.
Thye first thing that we plan to do is to re attach a front towing eye so if needs be we can tow the car ourselfs if and when the need arises.

I've recently stopped Wayne (Alans brother) from driving our car on his insurance for a simular thing to this. Every insurance policy states that you are not covered whilst using a vehicle for or inconnection with motorsport. Our car is insured as a road legal Race Car. Therefore it could be argued that eveywhere we go is in connection with motorsport especially as it is a sponsored vehicle. If an insurance company can find a grey area to get out of paying they will and the Rac/AA are doing the same.
