bf2142
I have to be honest Daz, the whole thing with PC gaming does my brain in.......compatibility issues put me off so I've settled in for a cozy life with my 360
A fine game by all accounts though. Plenty of gamers on here so you should find plenty of fodder.

I never got on with BF2 on my PC - as Stu says, there were too many compatibility issues with windows based things.... one moment it would work and next it was laggy as hell and i would die the death of a thousand knife stabs.
BF1942 I could get to work easily and still ocassionally go online to play.
I wish I could afford an xbox 360 though

I was always an avid pc gamer and used to upgrade my machine all the time to play the latest games.
Trouble was you would upgrade your pc to run the latest games, when the next gen came out you'd have to do it all over again. This can be after a year or 2 years at most.
Since getting the 360 I enjoy playing that a lot more and am safe in the knowledge that everything will run !! Yeah there may be some titles coming out on the pc that offer extra graphics, better resolution etc but you cant beat the simplicity of using xbox live. Within 2 seconds you can see who is online and then invite them to the game you are playing or join easily enough. None of that faffing around with gamespy, ip addresses etc etc
I think the pc is a dying format, it was once THE place to play first person shooters eg half life, doom, quake etc, the place to play driving games eg TOCA Touring cars, Geoff Crammonds Grand prix games, strategy games eg age of empires, in addition it is the only format that can play decent, realistic flight sims.
Looking at the consoles they can match the fps or the same game comes out on all formats eg Half Life, Doom 3 etc. The racing games are now more suited to consoles eg Gran Turismo and Forza. The only thing missing is flight sims and strategy games, thats probably only because they dont have a keyboard that can use all the commands !
Therefore bottom line is I think consoles are the way forward, with HD Televisions it closes the gap between the high resolutions used on pc monitors.
That said I havent played 2142, waiting for it to come out on the 360, which it will eventually. I really enjoyed the other Battlefield games though.
