Hi Guys, Do you know of any network speed testing software?
I need something similar to the broadband speed testers you can find on the internet, but for networks.
I need to prove that one of our Remote Sites Link is slower than the rest. I can prove by a simple copy of file from the local site to the remote site.
Im finding that one site takes 30 seconds longer to copy a small 9 meg file, than the other. And the links are meant to be exactly the same, Utilization is low on both links.
Cheers
Paul
Network Speed Testing Software? Any Ideas
I just did a simple windows copy and paste and stopwatch not scientific but a start.
9 meg file to one remote site took 1min 24sec to another site the same file took 55seconds.
Will do an FTP aswell, tracert show nothing strange.
We have just changed our network to an MPLS network, so its now managed by a third party company, just really annoying me as my weekend server backups of the remote sites are taking forever. Our company really should upgrade our links but they seem to think its fine
.
I just wanted to be able to go back to the boss with some hard facts

Wasn't there some stuff avaialable ...I think it was free...showed a map of the world your route to the destination and linktimes...must have used Traceroute and Ping or something....
Anyone remember this?
Then again...a closed network is gonna be pretty damn quick unless you have some serious problems.. like things set to full duplex, others set to half etc... if you have two units set to auto negotiate at least fix one side so both sides are not forced to decide...
look at your routing tables... number of hops...whats the problem anyway... do you have a network diagram?
