Guys,

I've often posted some of my race and trackday vids here and I've just posted another batch from last weekends V8s races which supported the F1 Grand-Prix. The F1 was boring but there was loads of action in the V8s and some very close racing. A big crash in race 1 with 2 cars coming together and one losing a tyre at high speed.

My guys did a pretty good job. Raed won race 1, but had an engine problem in race 2

Abdulaziz had a controversial big crash, losing a wheel at high speed on the new section and had to retire but claimed a great 2nd place in race 2.

You will likely have seen the GP now, not a classic by any means but there was some great action in the V8s, especially Aziz, race 2, parts 2 & 3.

I've been playing around with the camera layouts and views and am pretty happy with them now, what do you think?

35 seconds in and the crash was already written on the wall. Your man's opponent took entirely the wrong line into that bend and he was easily overtaken, almost through momentum alone. At that stage the other driver, not your man, could have and should have eased off but as the extra corner speed started to work, the two were always on a collision course. The little scandi flick into your man's car didn't help.

Great video quality and the V8 soundtrack is superb. Shame about Al-Jazzera's answer to Murray Walker.

It was a real shame, in race 2 (esp parts 2 & 3) they have a great scrap, very close and clean. I dont think he (the red/white) car meant to take Aziz out, but we all know that wheel to wheel smashes the wheel as they are wider than the tyre and quite cheap, it's happened 2 or 3 times before.

At the time Aziz was only 3 points behind the red/white car for the championship. The red/white car resumed and because we had some cars drop out he scored points, 4 in total. It would have been fairer if they had dis-allowed his points and kept things as was.

Aziz is quick at Reem though (Saudi Arabia) which is the last round in 10 days time, so we hope we can do enough to win.

Great racing - so what is the story with these cars - what sort of BHP / Torque are they pulling - infact what are they based on? .. holdens? ..

Yes, they are based on the Holden Commodore, same as the one that runs in the Aussie V8s but nowhere near as sophisticated. It's also the same as the Vauxhall Monaro VXR8.

There are 2 classes. The newer SC09s are more powerful and more advanced, bhp is around 420bhp, not sure on torque. They run sequential shifters on the SC09s, standard H pattern on the SC06s. Both classes run on slicks, they get (and use) 2 full sets per weekend which is quali and 2 races.

Part of the reason they move around so much is that there is virtually no camber in the cars and as you can see, they are very soft, particularly the SC06s. No camber means that when you lean on them in the corners you are only using about 1/3 of the tyre width.

Back at the end of their 2008 season (Bahrain GP 2008) "The Racing School" who I do some work for in the UK, bought 8 of the SC06 cars which they now run at Rockingham for Gift Experiences, a few guys from here have been and loved it, here is the link,

Ooohh, not heard that, if anyone knows anything would be interested to hear.

Biggest problem in UK is cost of fuel. In Saudi it is around 5p a litre !!
