Got better, and worse, after you left Stuart. Gary got the brakes nicely bedded in (should the discs really turn blue ?

), so I was lucky enough to have my 1st run of the year in the Evo and experience first hand all the winters mods. Chris reckons Gary is more confident under braking. I find that to be a gross understatement! There are still some issues to be sorted such as running a tad on the hot side, plus a suspect head gasket leak between 2 and 3.
However, as we seemed to settled in for some more quick laps the red flag came out, and my initial cursing turned to dismay at the sight of Ross at the of the straight with marshals in attendance. A potentialy spetacular fire turned out to be an oil leak getting onto the o/s/f disc. Worse was to come when an initial inspection back at the pits pointed towards something having become detatched internally. It didn't sound too good.
Still, summer is yet to come, and Ross will be back to fight another day.

Nope
I got sidetracked mate; sorry
There was quite a broad cross section of cars and drivers, with the all too familiar criticism of bad driver behaviour and a miss match of driver experiences. Fezza and Micared (bloody forum names  ) were severely cut up by a Caterham and there were countless comments about too much traffic.
My pick of the other cars, outside of the normal BigPower collective, was a 495bhp race Cerbera running proper slicks and full aero. That was tatty as you like but built with a singular purpose in mind (going very quickly)
The owner was very quick to come over and find Ross. He wanted to know 'what the Hell have you done to that?' which was quite amusing. Gary's answer of 'no mate, it's standard' was better
The surprise of the day, in a nice way, was Jonv's M3. Powered by an E46 M3 engine and one of Specialised Components ECU's and an APT map, it effortlessly pulled away from supposedly quicker cars. 340bhp, a decent suspension set up and AP brakes mean a genuinely well sorted car for around 10k. With him, Slarty and Richards M3 and Mr Beale's CSL with it's new diff, I'm going to have to push very hard indeed to keep any of them in sight when we all meet up.
I love a challenge
Edited to add that after reading Mike's post, the stage of development that both Gary's and Ross' cars are at means that things like this are almost inevitable. These guys are trying things with Evo's that no-one else has done in the UK. That takes a lot of bottle and money and yet they still keep plugging away, pushing the limits.
I may sound like I've got my APT t-shirt on today but I guess I'm just impressed and a little proud of what the small firm have achieved in such a short time, and seeing these two mug just about everyone else there this morning highlights that very well.
It's a shame about Ross but we all know how he'll bounce back.

 Fezza-James, Micared-Jon. That f**king Caterham nearly caused countless accidents and had several warnings from the marshalls, and i think he was also black flagged. Yet he was still allowed to run  Why???
It was a real treat to see the Evos and i was gutted for Ross

Quick thanks to Gary (for the arbs) and Dunc (for brake advice) :notworthy:

what a great day in terms of i finally think ive sorted the dry sump issues only to end up with head gasket failure today so couldnt do many laps before the water temps got to high,
this allowed me to give a few pass laps to people who wanted them, hope you had fun guys and girl!!
as per the norm bp guys were ace great on track but other were shocking!!i should have known from the last day we did

If i ever find that Caterham driver..... :x
Seriously though, a great day (bar seeing Ross' despair at the evo breaking), really nice to see BP members there to support others even though they weren't driving :thumb:
Great piccys Stuart.
Oh, and thanks to GARY for an amazing pax lap

That's great news Dr Hayward
I had several kind offers of passenger laps but I arrived with no intention of doing them and left at lunch time, just to make sure. For me, I'd have soon thought about the prepped M3 sitting not more than 10 minutes away and I'm sure my will would have collapsed meaning a return to Snett far sooner than I wanted (from a driving point of view)
Did you get any meaningful data from either your Evo or Roscoe's?
Any thoughts about the new diff?
Same for the aero? Any thoughts?
How were the Pagids?

yeah forgot about all mods i made just got in it and drove it
new diff,i removed the active centre diff and fitted a quaife centre atb diff biggest thing with this was just it was much more constitant mid corner and balancing throttle with no electronic diffs moving power around
aero, rear wing makes it feel much better with rear not wanting to slide out when coming of gas at end of start/finish straight
spillter, flat front and canards make front feel so much more planted but this does over heat the tyres so quick!!!
pagids im not 100% about i cant put finger on why but i prefer mintex, does make me laugh when guys ask i they ds2500 or ds3000,them pads wouldnt do 10 laps!!! i am on endurance pads that should do a 24hr race but these do eat discs...
