This is a bit of a multi-purpose post, the first part is for those interested in the VIDEO4 system from Race Technology. The second part is some commentary on the weekends races. The last part is links to Youtube videos which give a great insight into MX5 Racing in the UK and also demonstrate the sort of output you can get with the VIDEO4 system.

They are all ACTION PACKED. MX5 Race 2 contains a text commentary of some of my thoughts during the race which is something a bit different that I hope "viewer" will enjoy.

Thanks to Keystone Group & CG-Lock I was able to do 4 races over the weekend of 18/19 October at Snetterton. 2 Races in the Nippon Challenge and 2 races in the Ma5da Racing series.

For those who don't know the VIDEO4 system is a new solid-state video recorder from Race Technology. It can take 4 bulletcam feeds and overlay them and any data from their DL1 data logger to a DVD quality video. The video system looks like a nice set up. I always like the multi cam versions and the overlaying of 'proper' data is a nice addition. How quick and easy is this to install, say, from one car to the next? My thinking is maybe to get three or four people chipping in and then swapping the cameras between cars on the hoof? Is this practical?

With regards to the racing, I thought the first Ma5da race was epic. I loved the little battle twixt you and the car #77. There were certainly a few cars that seemed to have the legs on you and then you seemed to have a gear selection issue, just to add to the mix!

One thing the video does show though; just how much fun you can have in a modestly powered car (sub 150bhp I guess?)

VIDEO4 - Yes, can easily be switched between cars. As supplied it comes with a cigarette lighter attachment but I prefer to wire it in direct as many are unreliable. You could just run a 12v feed into the cabin and into a terminal block and connecting up is a cinch. I generally use Velco straps (from B&Q) to attach the bulletcams (some circuits don't allow suction mounts) but you can also just use duck tape as they are very light.

That was some very close racing indeed, i was getting right into it lol...
