An early start was on the cards in order to avoid the traffic at Silverstone. We had to make one stop on route to fill up with v-power, we decided to do this at Corley services and as we pulled into the services our eyes were drawn to a very nice and familuar MK1 Escort. That of Retro Al's. This was somewhat confussing as I new that Al was from the Norwich area for a moment i thought he had sold his car but no it was Al. Both cars filled up and a quick chat with Al it was time to head on to Silverstone.

Once the track briefing was out of the way it was time to get the car ready for it's first session of the day. The waather forecast for the day was HOT :o and with all our previous overheating problems this was certainly going to be a test for the car.

First session over and the car was fine. It was now clear that we would be in more danger of overheating than the car, it was hot out there.

The weather was hot as was the action out on track. There were a couple of closed sessions reserved for clubs including this one 8)
Old Skool Cool 8)

The sun seamed to stay high in the sky all day and with temperatures hitting a giddey 30c the car seamed happy and relaxed unlike us as we drank water like a pair of camals.
It was a fantastic day out in the sun with a lot of very nice Fords.

it was busy mate at one point at the start of the first session there was me a focus RS and a RS cosworth
stuck behind another 15 cars trying to get past them and they were just all over the place and they said
in the briefing not to pass round the bends but that just seemed to go out the window.

god i look like a well done pig :o but it dont hurt at all :)

Looks like a nice day out. The Old School boys have some wonderful cars between them. I've raced with them several times at Santa Pod.

That Cosworth in front of you on the first clip looks like he had a fair amount of grunt. Do you know any details of his car?

Stu. don't know any details on that RS Cosworth but cam estimate his bhp at around 300 - 320 bhp. This is based on the fact that the car that was behind him at the start was a xr4i with a cosworth engine running 322 bhp and 285 lb/ft. They were fairly evenly matched down the straight but under braking and through the corners the xr4i was much quicker.

Saw you guys and the car there, would have popped over but did nt want to ; A. Interupt, your car always seemed mobbed
B. Seem like a stalker (Imagine the line, hello I am Rob, Stu off Bigpower's Brother)
Maybe next time!
Good show all the same, even if the track sessions were a bit manic!
