Not knocking you but I've never really liked the Z31.......even some of the mad arse early Japanese tuner cars never hit the spot either. The Z32 was so much nicer looking, in my opinion, it had the looks, chassis and power. I've only worked on a few and I'm no mechanic as many people will attest, but I've always found the Z32 a pain in the arse to work on, and being tight, this has put me off in recent times. A money no object LS2 swap would be just about spot on for me but it's all pipe dreams and pub talk right now. I got offered a nice short wheel base slick top twin turbo a few years ago, just before I bought the first Skyline, and in many ways I wish I'd bought that instead. Oh well...

How the Hell did you end up with 5 Zed's? :)

Back to your rhetorical question about a Zed winning TA.........anything can win TA if you have the desire, the support and the money. I still reckon space framing the bugger and really working on power to weight would do wonders but TA won't allow that unless you run in the prototype class and then you're up against the likes of Gallagher and his Focus. "Sayonara" :D :D

I forgot that we have another top Zed on the forum; max1's 500+hp blue one. I'm not sure if he's featured this on here yet, but I know it's one of his favourite cars and when you consider he has an 8 second GTR and at least one other R32 and then the big Dodge, that's some accolade.

Oh I get where you're coming from; both with the Z31's looks and the Z32 being a ba***rd to work on.

I ended up with three Z31's in the space of a weekend.

I bid on one on ebay that was at a good price, I then spotted another that had already been stripped for track use, so I figured I'd put a low bid on that just in case the first one fell through.

Would you fookin' believe it, I won both!
Then I realised that the second (track) one came with a turbo Z31 as a donor car as well.
Resulting in a whole weekend driving up and down the M5/M6/M1/M4 just shifting these old Z's about

It's weird how I ended up with the Z32

I got injured working overseas, so being a bit bored I went nosing at cars.
I'd been eyeing up Skylines and Supra's before I went away but knew that I'd need to do a bit more saving first.

Whilst I was recovering I spotted the Z32 for sale at a decent price.
I did a bit of research and figured that 300 brake of twin turbo goodness must be worth a go, so I travelled down to Exeter to view it.
I ended up leaving a deposit and then travelled back down a day or so later to pick her up.

The Z then sat whilst I went back to work overseas and only saw a few mods during that first year.

In December of '07 I was awarded a personal injury compensation payout.
The Z had decent enough pace but didn't have anywhere near what I needed, and so I set about looking for a nice Skyline again.

I narrowed it down to a couple of big power imported R33 GTR's and two 550 brake R34 GTR's.
Though with a price tag of

No experience of that ETS stuff mate but it certainly looks good. If nothing else it's got the size and as we all know temps are key for zeds on track. Also, as i said before, it was my intercooler that ultimately limited my power, just couldn't flow enough so if you;re aiming to max out your tubs then this would be the puppy. How does price compare to the Jap stuff?

Altho at the end of the day I know it's only a consolation purchase having let mine go off to lithuania, complete with shiny hks bovs :seeya:

Hey chief, how was the mapping session?

The ETS stuff is less than half the price of the GREDDY/HKS kits and they can make custom stuff as well, if required

This was going to be my next question actually

I'm looking at ways to reduce the length of pipework for both the air intakes and the intercooler

Now the US kit for the Z is proving to be some of the better kit out there at the mo', which is why I brought a twin JWT kit back from my last trip Stateside

Now I don't know if the Jap company's are out sourcing due to the recession (and to be honest I don't want to suggest that as fact for fear of getting my ass sued by HKS or grilled by anyone who's just spent big $ on a Jap system) but the Yank kit is getting some good R&D time put into it, and by the looks of it ETS are following suit, with some decent track credibility to their name.

-What I'm looking to do is re-locate the air intakes so that they are closer to the tubs (with the aircon compressor etc having already been removed, there's a huge void down there where they could be sighted)
Theoretically, would their being closer have a positive or negative effect?

-Likewise, if I were to have a custom set of pipes fabricated for the ETS fmic (that reduced the distance), bypassing the mass of piping for use on the stock intercooler piping, would that increase spool up time/cooling etc?

I'm still looking into the side exit options, to determine the best location/direction etc.

Any news on that CCTV bud?

we can start getting the Karma Police on their asses then!!!
