Ok,

Something i have been deliberation over for a while is the fact that soon Racewear regulations for trackdays and most kinds of Motorsport will be changing very soon. i have recently been discussing this with Stuart and he is keen for one of the traders on here to sort something.

Those of you who do sprinting may be aware of this already, but circuits hosting trackday will be introducing different requirements too.

At the moment, your crash helmet is seldom checked on trackdays so things are actually quite lax in that respect. I am lucky enough to own a BS6658 lid already, but most lids will not be up to standard.

Different disciplines will require different specs. I know a little about the requirements, but different disciplines and sprint organisations may have different requirements.

The products we are considering here are open/full face helmets in BS6658-85 A, A/FR and even Snell 2005 specs plus FIA/Nomex racesuits, gloves and undergarments.

I already have some gloves of various specs as these are very good for trackdays etc just for the comfort/grip advantages as well as some of them being fire retardent.

Some of the products involved will be new ground for me and the project will require considerable investment so i need to know who is seriously interested in some up to date safety gear for next season. Anyone who is in another club whos members may benefit from this, please spread the word (ie sprint/trackday clubs etc)

A la event/meet lists, please (those that Know) state your name and the products you are interested in.

Depending on the response, i will bring a few samples of gloves i already have to the meet and some catalogues for other products.

Thanks

Eddy

Good on you mate.

I will defo want a compliant full face helmet, thinking about an Arai GP-5 and some race boots (Alpinestars)

Possibly a race suit but not sure as i don't want to look a plum like big Stu does at trackdays lol ;-0

Nomex balaclava and a full face lid suitable for racing. I'm skint, so nothing too pricey. Can I have some suggestions please?

71 views and only 3 interested parties so far.

I need to determine whether this is viable, so either post on here or talk to me at the next meet.

The plan is to have a sale day/evening with sample/sale stock in some common sizes.
Now, this could happen at my place, but trying to get everyone interested in one place/time will be difficult, so i am thinking that it makes sense doing it on one of the BigPower meets if they will allow it. I am thinking November meet so some of you can order items and include them on you Xmas lists for loved ones to pay for/contribute towards.

Basically at the sale if you see what you want and it fits you buy it there and then. If by chance your helmet size is not there, but the one above is large and the one below is small you order the middle one of course. Further details/condition will be anounced nearer the time if it happens.

So come on people, most of you will need new gear for next year, so express your interest and spread the word to associates in your disciplines.

You'll probably be there on your own in Nov. Eddy.

It's chicken and egg as usual. No-one's going to commit until they see prices. You can't get best prices without knowing numbers.

I think the first call is yours. This whole site is dedicated to people who are doers. Next year's MSA rules will require all of the competitive drivers to have the new standard of helmet, gloves and race suit. The track day drivers will be faced with a minimum standard of crash helmet.

If your prices are pitched competitively with appropriate club discounts, you have a good chance of flogging a fair few items. IMO

I'm definitely interested in some gloves, I was in fact planning to pop over to SCA during the week to get some. Do you have any in stock at the moment?

Yes mate, as stated in the opening post, i have a few pairs of gloves. They are all a medium size, but can get larger if necessary. If you are interested, i will bring them to the meet.

I'm interested, need a new lid (A F-R) and a bigger suit for next year.
