Refined Reflections - Well Done

Today was the day where my car was given the Refined Reflections treatment.

Gary arrived at shortly after 8am this morning and in desperate need of coffee so a quick cuppa and a chin wag we discussed the plan for the car. As it is sporting stickers at present we settled that machine work would be a waste of time and end up in poor results. Instead we (or rather he) lept at it in his usual dedicated and detailed way.

I wasnt able to take before pictures (gary will post these later I am sure) because of a flat battery on my camera but suffice to say, that my car was not filthy (it rarely is) but was in need of some TLC.

Having prided myself in keeping my car clean and waxed it has always come up nicely but after the treatment from Gary, it not only looked fantastic (far, far, far better than I do), but it FELT fantastic and smelt great too !!! :D That was the greatest shock to me - seeing the state of the claybar :o

Here are some of the finished pics (well not quite finished as the final buffing hadnt been done and the light was fading):

First off, many thanks Duncan for doing the web banner, OK winning the comp I set :) And thanks for everyones comments, I do try to do my best.

As mentioned above there was no way I could do a machine polish properly with all the stickers, and doing the parts without stickers would have made them stand out like a sore thumb, if or when the stickers are removed I'll be hitting the car with a machine polisher to remove the light swirls.

The car was in very good condition, some surface dirt, loads of smashed bugs and some tar spots, well this is a well driven car so these are only to be expected. However I was sure I could do something nice with it :)

Here are some before shots..

The car was treated to a under arch cleaning, then spray foam (stu's 2nd favourite item in my van), clay bar, and yes this was dead at the end of the car (looked light dirt but it was so ingrained, clay went from lime green to almost black :o ), then a 2nd foam wash and pure sheepskin wash mitt then dried. Now came the real fun using Zymol HD Cleanse (chocolate milk shake smell  ) followed by a good coat of hand applied Zymol Concourse (Stu's favourite). Now I wasn't the only one using this, after a quick lesson Duncan had a play and seemed to be loving it, moaning that the phone was ringing as he was enjoying himself :P

My after pics aren't as good as Duncan's as light was failing plus I'm not very still :( Oh 3:30pm and car was getting damp with condensation :x
