We are 25 miles from Ascari but it's 100,000 Euros a year just for membership and about 5,000 Euros a track day so we won't be going there any time soon  It's a very select place where all the rich and famous go plus Porsche and others launch new cars there. Saying that, a local forum have a track day there in July but apparently all the Spanish run track days are demolition derbies (bit like their normal road driving really) so i'd prefer to keep away from that...
We're near to several other tracks though - Guadix which i have driven on and the Evo loved it. A very twisty 2 mile circuit that you could almost fit in the car park behind Snetterton pits it's that tight. It's an FIA approved circuit with proper run offs and last year Porsche tested their LMP2 cars there.
Also we have Almeria, Jerez, Albacete & Cartagena all within a few hours drive. There's a couple of British lads over here who organise trackdays similar to the standards we enjoy in the UK. If im not abroad i attend any i can.
Saying that, it's very mountainous where we live so there are some awesome roads nearby too. If anyone saw the article in EVO magazine last month on the new Cayman that they tested in the Aldalucian mountains, that was on our doorstep. They were kind enough to supply a map of their route so when i came home this time we traced it in the Evo. Spectacular views and the roads had 1000' + drops with just small white concrete blocks at the edge. :-D
Stuart if you fancy a road trip, you won't be dissapointed especially coming down through Spain - very few speed cameras (each one has warning signs anyway) and everyone drives like a nut so under 100mph you don't even get a second glance...
