Time to come clean! I`m turning to the dark side! After spending months changing my mind (many many times!) on what to sprint this year i have my heart set on an evo (seems the only way to go hey gerry?) Some know i have alway wanted a VI but i still don`t have the budget. So my V-max is 4.5k ( the poor old mazda aint going to get replaced this year and beans on toast will be a staple diet for a long while to come!) so hopefuly should put me in a tidy IV? I would like to be well under that V-max if poss so i don`t have to get rid of the scooby straight away? To the evo guys on here what are the main things to look out for? ( gerry i wanted the black evo that i posted on your thread- but its gone:mad:) does anyone know of any good cars lurking? I am off up north at the weekend to look at one that needs a bit of work (bodywork, alarm don`t work etc..) Colour is`nt important, but silver is at the bottom of the list.
Any help would be appreciated.:D

A couple on eBay, Pistonheads and Autotrader Russ; all well within budget.

Off to find more.

Russ, main thing is to check for all the lights come on the dash when you put the ignition on, ie ABS and AYC. If they don't light up then there is a problem and someone is trying to mask it.

Also, on slow turns if there is a groaning noise coming from underneath that means the AYC pump is not at it's best, or it needs bled. Also on 4 's they tend to suffer from crankwalk so listen out for that, otherwise it's all the normal stuff.
