If you give it some time and are patient things will settle down and get back to some kind of normality.

The way industry and the general public is acting right now is simply a kneejerk reaction to all the shit and uncertainty that's doing the rounds at the moment, properly blown out of all proportion by the media who in my opinion bare responsibility for some of it portraying the economy as total total doom and gloom which is nothing more than proper scaremongering, but what the hell eh, it sells news!!

All these redundancies in my opinion are unneccessary as it's just a matter of time till things quieten down and pick up, again, then employers are screaming out for skilled people and will pay ridiculous money to get skills back on board. So for now all that needs to happen is some tightening of the belt short term, not redundancies.

In the last 20 years i can remember 2 very bad bouts of a shite economy, recession etc... and after the first year of proper recession the economy starts to pick up although very slowly. Year two you see some more growth and then by year 3 the economy is back on track and moving quickly. My industry is very sensitive to the way global economies operate as the electronics industry is one of the biggest on this planet, and like every other industry, you get ups and downs. Good and bad times are cyclical, regular as clockwork, and will always happen no matter what.

Be patient, bide your time and ride the ripples!! Jump ship if you want but in my experience when you want to get back into it some 2 or 3 years down the line and the economy has picked up bigtime, you're doing something else and employers are crying out for builders, plasterers, sparkeis, chippys etc... as happened the last time, you then have little or no chance of getting back in because someone else has taken your place while you were out of it.

Too much short term thinking is no good and there is nothing more unreliable than a quick fix. Think long term and you'll be just fine!!

You've got to be in it to win it so stick with it!! :thumb:
