Accusump Engine Saver SOLD

Post by Stuart »

Probably the best money I ever spent on the GTR

The Accusump system was fitted to prevent oil surge on the 32, something it did very nicely. The same system is used on cars as varied as Keith Cowies Drag R32 and to all manner of Lotus 211's, 340r's and the like; so a proper piece of kit.

For those that don't know, here are the bullet points:-

When your car moves in any direction with enough force (extreme acceleration, hard or sustained cornering etc) the oil pump may struggle to pump sufficient quantities of oil to the engine. This obviously isn't good and will kill your engine in no time at all.

When you start your engine from cold, there is no oil in the head. The Accusump system pre-oils the head therefore greatly reducing wear and tear on start up.

The Accusump has an electronic valve that detects any changes in oil pressure and below a pre-selected figure, it will pump oil from it's remote sump into the normal engine sump, saving the engine from oil starvation. In tests conducted on my old 32, we (Gary from APT and I) removed the sump plug and allowed the oil to drain out. With the ignition switched on, the low pressure light cam on instantly as you would expect. We then 'armed' the Accusump and straight away the gauge showed more than 10psi oil pressure (the point at which the red light comes on) and continued to provide enough engine saving oil for 40 seconds before the light came on again :o

Now I fully appreciate that this is not the most sexy of purchases, but anyone who has forked out for an engine build due to oil starvation will attest that they are to be avoided where possible.

The price............

For the full kit (The largest canister, ECV, holders and several feet of steel braided hose) I want
