Okay... so who is going to go and watch some of the action?

I am going be watching on the Saturday most probably at Halfway SS9/SS12 - gives a good choice of gravel and tarmac sections and some great viewing on the top of Epynt

Alternatively will get to Crychan and give us a chance to get down to Cardiff for the Super Special in the stadium later :D

We have been going for several years now and have many routes plotted across the weekend.

Anybody is more than welcome to come along :D

This event used to be awesome back in the seventies and eighties when it went on for 6 days throughout the day and the night stopping for about 2 hours rest a day. Spectating in those days was awesome as you didnt have to pay to get into the forest stages, you could just turn up, watch the first 20 cars through then hack to another stage to do the same.

You'd end up doing a vast amount of miles in your car following it through wales, yorkshire moors, lake district and scotland, sleeping in it where possible and having a complete blast with CB radios and the like.

Now it is just a sanitised mini rally where you have to stand behind taped off areas herded there by the marshalls. Still awesome seeing and hearing cars doing silly mph on gravel past you spraying you with the gravel as they pass.

Love it.

Mind you it is more fun in the cars doing these stages  .... one day I will dig out (or rather find them from the safe place that they are) my rallying photos of me in the Mk1 and Mk2 Escort and the Pug 205 :D

I am leaning towards Crychan - I havent done that stage before, done Epynt and Halfway...

The end of halfway is great with a natural bowl with a river crossing then rising up the side of the steep valley (great for viewing) before a 2 mile blast to the finish line. Bit of a long walk, but well worth it :)

Would love to go but have no idea of what, where, when and how much? I've been once before, years ago at Donington though
