I know that a couple of the lads from here attended, but with the lack of news posted so far I thought I would put some results up.

Fastest car of the weekend
Andy F Impreza 30-130 6.38 seconds (Ross was in the 5's last year although the weather conditions may have been different)
Severn Valley Motorsport R35 GTR ' The Hulk' 217.97mph! This time was in the wet :)

Other results of note were Steve Darley in his Impreza cracking into the 6's with a 6.9 30-130 and also busting the 200mph target with a 200.45mph.

I will have to get along to one of these...... :driving:

This years event was literally a damp squib. Saturday was the main MLR event (with Sunday being an "all marques/non members" session) and began wet with the promise of drying-out, so Ross left the Evo still strapped to the trailer while we waited. It had barely begun to dry before a heavy downpour crept in and left us all wondering whether to hit the pub early. :banghead:

Come 3pm there were still patches of standing water on the runway when the heavens opened again. Granted SVM did a cracking top speed, but their launch and 30-130 was shocking (beaten by 3 road-trimmed Evo's), so there was absolutely no point in Ross trying to beat his record (set in bone-dry conditions), so we left for an early drink. Ross' nearest MLR rival, Neverneverman, only went for a few low-boost runs to shake down the car after some last minute mapping, and reported no traction at all in the dying minutes.

There was little intention in going again today (Sunday), but there was a small chance of the runway being dry at some point, so Ross and Gary brought the Evo out for another go. Once again it started wet, but began to dry-out midday and Ross was getting Sylvia off the trailer around the time when Andy F set his time, but the Scoob lost a door at high speed which meant closing the runway while the debris was removed... after which, it rained.

Eventually Ross decided it was worth doing at least one run to make the two days standing about worthwhile. Unfortunately, he fell foul of the RAF's rules for the day and was excluded before hitting the runway. The Base was fully active on both days, with the prospect of planes landing on any of the other runways, as well as plenty of support vehicles driving about- so the crew had ruled it was first gear only in the pits, and a 30mph limit to and from the runway. On the service road upto the start box, Ross had blipped the throttle to check the gear shift, and momentarily breached the limit. Getting banned for speeding on a top speed day... ironic that. :(

A disappointing end to a disappointing weekend. Ross' car will do low 6's/under 5 secs all day long in the dry, so it was a waste of time running purely for marque bragging rights, a belief echo'd by Paul (Neverneverman). We might have a play later in the year to see what it will do elsewhere in the dry, but ultimately we'll have to wait until 30-130 next year for an official result.

Sounds like a proper anti-climax. Outside of MLR, is it mainly 22b and GTROC that get invited?

The GTROC were invited to make up the numbers on the MLR day last year and it seemed to have been carried over again this year to make it a bit more interesting. As far as I know, the 22b lot have always run the second day along with anyone else who chooses to enter. Not sure 100% why it's like that.

I'm guessing Ben and James didn't bother as well if it was wet? Sounds like it was a bit of a shitter in the end then :(

Bit of a balls-up there too- they'd brought a mate along on his birthday but he got turned away at the gate due to not being on the base's list, despite having email confirmation of his security clearance weeks ago, so he had to go back home again.

Understandably, James and Ben felt uneasy about staying all day (along with the fact it was never going to dry out) and decided to leave early. Ben went for one run just for the sake of it, and was probably glad to be going home early for a change of underwear as the rear of the car stepped completely sideways whilst flat in 3rd. :smilielol5:

It was a bit of a disappointment really, I'd been flat out for 3 days trying to get the car ready for Marham (new intercooler, alternator, fix a coolant leak and flush the cooling system, plus getting hold of a new EDFC motor) and then it just rained...

I had no grip at all on the wet runway with the 595 RSR's, nearly lost it sideways at the top of 3rd. James was even struggling for grip on the sighting lap!

Was really gutted for my mate Darryl who's birthday it was, he ended up waiting at the gate for over 2 hours while Darrin tried to sort things out :(
