Right, here we go!
Having been advised by STIG Bart the other day that we should meet at 6.30 am (Yes, six bloody thirty for a frigging car show!) so that meant a 5 am start leaving mine...bugger.
Then I realised I was at Stu's in Attleborough till late evening Saturday- double poo!
So I spend 180 miles Saturday encasing my aged but trusty Sierra in as much insect debris and bird shit as possible, only to realise that I would then face the choice of washing my car in the dark when I get home, or manning up and doing it in the early dusk before I set off in the morning.
I had a late message from Alan to allow me a whole thirty extra minutes in bed, so I did the only rational thing and washed the car in pitch darkness at home.
Not sure if I had done a reasonable job or not, I gave up and then got precisely no sleep, fearful of over sleeping.
So I rose at 5am, feeling fairly pants to be honest, but was mildy surprised to see I had actually cleaned the car reasonable well.
I trundled off merrily sipping a man sized can off Relentless, my heart pounding by the time I hit the M25.
I made good time, passing pockets of similarly afflicted Ford people en route, and whilst approacing Towcester, I was enjoying the scenery when out of my drivers side window I spied a Pigeon swooping across the road towards the road, I assumed it had just gone over the car when it thudded somehwere, and in the rear view was an amusing cloud of feathers (I love animals, but thought of it as payback for all the times they shit on my car)
I stopped just down the road, awaiting the arrival on the Tourrettes lads, (More like Itchy and Scratchy than Bart.....) and jumped out of the car to see my ancient telescopic aerial bent over at a right angle covered in Pigeon.
200 miles in less than 24 hrs and I hit a bleedin Pigeon 5 minutes from the destination.
Much to the amusement of all present I tried to feed the rather limp aerial back into the car, but to be honest, it was nt entirely succesfull.
(Pigeon 1 Aerial 1)
I wiped the mixed materials from my hands, and we were some of the first to enter the venue, but there were a good number already there.
Below are just an example of some of the fine metal on display, OBVIOUSLY the old skool stuff really did it for me, but I could appreciate most of what was there.
