I'll be at the Lotus sprint and BTCC at Snetterton in the afternoon.

Have fun. Try not to buy anything extra for the Sierra :)

Once we got to Silverstone we headed straight to the signing on office to buy 2 sessions of track time. I was going out at 09.40 and Alan was going out at 12.20. In the briefing we were asked how many people had done a track day before and nearly all thed room raised their hands. Good start I thought no novices.....How wrong I was.

The out lap behind the safety car was uneventful although none of the cars in front were following his lines, once he pulled in all hell broke loose. The first lap I was trying to hold my postion whilst the tyres got up temp but others had a different approach, inspite of being told that normal track day rules applied with reference to overtaking no one took any notice. I was behind a RS2000 MK5 who didn't want to move over me, so getting a better exit out of copse I passed him on the left before becketts (i think). As i got on the brakes for the 90 right he decided to try and out brake me into the corner and pass me on the inside. Needless to say the t**t couldn't stop. I honest to god thought he was going to slam into the side of me. Wayne (Alan's brother) was in the car with me and as the escort came along side a slight moment of panic came over him. I had to straighten the car up to avoid him and then fight it to get it around the corner. The very next corner he went to try it again but I saw it coming so just blocked him and that was the last i saw of him.
Racing lines are the quickest way around a track.....NOT AT FORD FAIR. Staying on the racing line on the approach to a corner people viewed it as a chance to dive up the inside thus forcing me to go off line and take the long way around. At times we were 3 abreast.
It scarey yet exciting at the same time, the amount of times i thouight i was off because of someone trying to get back past me by diving up the inside was stupid. But as the session went on the car just gripped and gripped taking copse at just over 90 mph was awesome the rest of the time i was just trying to stay out of trouble and keep the car in one piece.

Alan has some photos and video footage so will post it as soon as i get it from him

AG Carbon focus

Post by pablo »

War had basically been declared been AG and another focus going after the Reyland escort cossie. There was alot of harrassing and boxing in out on track to bait the Reyland cossie into an all out race.

It'd be a shame if this spoilt the day for you.
I remember when I went to this 2-3 years ago, and saw the anniversary parade lap of the Cossie's descend into chaos. Makes you realise how disciplined track days normally are I guess.
Chuffed for you the car did well though.

Robbed a pic from Passionford. Apparently something broke/sheared on the steering which pitched the car into the wall. :(

Driver's ok, and apparently the car will be rebuilt.
