It takes 45 minutes to get to Rob's, and then another 2 hours 45 minutes to get to Folkestone (normally) If you allow 30 minutes early for check in and that gives you 4 hours before the train leaves.
I'm in two minds about times, but as we are already leaving a day ahead of last year, getting there too early may just lead to sitting around drinking beer, eating horse and talking shit.....................excellent!!!
I had suggested to Rob about leaving mine at around 9-9.30am. This would get me to Rob's for 10ish and that way miss the traffic on the A11, M11 and M25 as we would be that much later. We should get the lunchtime train @ Folkestone and land in Calais at around 13.00pm. Calais to Brussels is around 2 hours which would get us there 15.00pm, and we
should miss the majority of the traffic. Brussels to Eschdorf is another 2 and a bit hours, so this should land us in Luxembourg with adequate time to catch the fantastic shops, load up with beer, pitch the tents and fill up on steak, chips and mayonnaise.
I fully appreciate that people live in different parts of the UK, and also get up at different times. Travelling in convoy has it's pros and cons so I'm easy about how we get there, but I personally don't want a 3am start.
