APT Dyno Day - 16th November
Aye indeed, gearing is different, but the v4 and the v6 are night-and-day for in-gear roll-on too. They have slightly different turbos, being 2yrs apart, and the v6 has a 3" system, apart from that it's just down to the remap.Gerry H wrote:Andy, your STi6 RA is a very different beast to your old v4 and Trev's v3. For a start, the ratios will make it very quick through the gears.
Although I wasn't there, I'm sure Gary would have been monitoring intake temps and the DD rollers I've been on have a bloody great fan aimed at the top mount for that very reason.
And, charge temp can be wayyy above intake temp on a TMIC classic Impreza - when it's used hard and when it's been idling whilst static. I've seen 50deg in the manifold when outside temp is 10deg. APT do have a massive fan, carefully aimed, but not even that will compare favourably with airflow on the road.
Trev - for the sake of 50 quid or less, stick a charge temp gauge on it before going on the dyno again. Better still, forget the gauge and go FMIC.

dont you love dynos
bloody things cause nothing but disagreements
im pretty sure surry rr has the same dyno as you dont they garry ?
which will be handy to compare graphs before and after
the reason it made the figures it did was purely down to an ultra ultra safe map, simon told me this, he said my engine takes loads of extra timing than most imprezas (and he has seen a few) and to be safe did not use it due to it being a cold day and me using a tmic etc.. and he also knew what i would be using the car for
he has offered to make me happy and map it on the dyno for nowt.
and sorry for sounding stoopid but does the ecu tell the turbo when to come on boost or does it just do it when its ready and spooled, reason is my little vf23 should be at 1 bar by 3300revs at least not 4000 like it is now, or is it likely to be a mechanical problem like buggered actuator or leaking exhaust before the turbo,
cheers

Small one's are more juicy
i have no boost controller, its all done via the pfc
the boost read a max of 1.3 on my commander after the 3 runs where as it usually makes 1.38-1.39 , also noticed the knock to be a lot higher than usual, bad batch of fuel maybe ? i dunno but im really not bothered all will be sorted out soon
