Having spoken with Stu about, I can feel the disappointment he feels.
I think it's a shame, but it'll still be good for a meet.
There's always another time!

So sorry to hear this Stuart especially after all the effort you and the team have put into this event for the club members,
I know I was not going to take part ( Donna would kill me using the new car) but I had organised leaving off work early to see you guys take part in this event :(.

Maybe this is a result of the hard times people are having at the moment ?? but it is a shame that members have not taken the opportunity to sign up for this and also monthly meets numbers have been way down from last year.

What time is the meet going to start next week now? as I will still leave off work early and come for pie and chips and a good natter :biggrinjester:

A great pity especially after all the effort that some members have put in, unfortunately I will be at a funeral on the day so will not be able to make the clubnight, happy to pay my fee if it means getting the show back on the road

Well i do feel realy gutted about next wednesday! Not just because its not going ahead and i don`t get to play. But because all the work stu has put into this and not had the support! I know i had not paid up, i had not appreciated the cruciality of it - for which i am very sorry! I do feel some what guilty for my part in the nagging for a bp drag night. I can`t belive there was not more support for this! So sorry Stu! I know you must be feeling like stuff the lot of us! what with this and sorting the new site etc.., But please keep at it, lets hope things look up for next year?:)

A real shame about this. I had a long chat to stuart about this too and even if all those who had signed up paid it would not be viable. As he has said he needed circa 40 cars to make it work. I think by the offers of payment now, we would have had around 30 definites. Also there was an issue re daylight as the nights are drawing in. The track may have had to be closed at 7ish if an overcast day so the actual time on track may have been too short to represent good value.

Let's hope we have a successful drag night next year.

I think that we can all learn from this...

IMO

This is our club and we all can do our bit to make it work, the least everyone can do is promote the club to new members and try to get people to the events.

When booking trackdays we have pay upfront and take a risk whether we can make it or the weather is pants so why not here?

I don't blame Stu for pulling the plug, if we can't show support in numbers/payment then why should he bother organizing events for us?

Like stated before this is a big club but only a few people actually help organize things.

I am as guilty as anyone and i have spoken to Stu about a couple of ideas we have regarding events for next year including the wives/kids etc.

This clubs is as good as WE make it!

I agree- I have to say that although I've only been a member for nearly a year, I've enjoyed every moment of it :D. Without the support and banter among members I'm happy to also call friends, I doubt I would have popped my track cherry (and now be thinking of the numerous improvements to the car for next year :smash:).

The old topic of the recession and money trouble comes up a lot, but there's no doubt it's had an effect. I admit I was one of those people who couldn't commit to the drag-night for various reasons (no money, getting the time off work, concern over the car, etc) although as the time drew nearer I was actually coming round to the idea of taking part. Next time I'll convince myself sooner, LOL.

Hopefully next year will see people's budget issues settle-down and there'll be no trouble in getting the cars together for track/autotest/drag. I'll be out there, and I'm sure many more member's will. :grouphug:

:cheers2:
