BigPower meet Sept 24th Trackday, 1/4 mile and Vmax
Was a great event, and a great show from the Big Power boys!
The 800BHP R32 is just amazing, and was great to see it smash all the records!
Trev, your driving was just great, just a quick hint tho, its the grey stuff your meant to drive on not the grass, though I would of loved to have seen your passengers face when the grass started flying through the window..
Hopefully they will be arranging another meet at that venue very shortly, just hope I will have my R32 by then, was gutted I wasn't there in my EVO!
Thanks for a great day all Big Power members!

Sorry - I'm definately in the ARMY, not the RAF...boxy wrote:Excellent, that`s good news we can behave ourselves sometimes.dynamix wrote:Terry - best drivers briefing ever and a very well organised day - they did themselves and the charity proud :notworthy:
Glad you've all had such a good time, I'm bored with overpriced unimaginative trackdays and dull airfield events. We set out to show what could be done, and the event was, at the end of it, made by those who attended. Thanks!
Oh, the handling circuit record - not that we were timing... 1,32.3 by the Duratec Toniq-R.

don't mention brakes!!
I loved the day overall. A great atmosphere, terrific value for money and the most fun I've had a circuit in about two weeks
We arrived just before 9am having driven through the mist and damp, bristling with anticipation. Our little convoy was vey well behaved and I had a feeling this was all gonna go out of the window. Young Trev (Rolygtst) has been without his R32 for 18 months now (three more weeks mate;) ) and his turbo'd Supra was fresh on the road, and judging by the look in Trevs eye he was going to drive it really, really hard. Mr Booker was still in the honeymoon period with his freshly rebuilt T70 monster, Paul Applin had even brought along his 800+ Skyline............much petrol was going to be sacrificed to the Gods of Straight Six
As there was only a few of us actually taking part, I had asked Jim Cameron to put us in the same group. He had already told me that with cars like ours, that was always going to happen. The signing on tent was
indicative of the whole day. Worked well enough, functional I guess, without excessive thrills. Back to the car park and then onto the funniest drivers briefing I have ever had. I was too busy laughing to take in some of the technical points, something to do with don't crash into the Tank on the far side! We'd been allocated the same group as the Ultimas and some of the quicker Porsches so the pace was likely to be pretty keen. Dunk had jumped in with me as a passenger and, with him impressing me at the Ring with his driving style, I felt duty bound to put on a good show. With that in mind on second sighting lap, I decided to push right on. Down the start finish straight, hard on the brakes and turn into the first tightly angled corner. Cold tyres, a large puddle just before entry and too much testosterone meant Dunk and I were sideways through the apex and into the exit point. Dunk thought it was funny, so did I, I'm not sure about the car behind and this broke my duck for getting sideways on an airfield.
The rest of the first session consisted of a few overtakes, learning the lines, clipping a few cones (sorry Jim) and both being amazed at the flames coming out of the back of one of the Ultimas. Back to the pits and for a few of us, straight over to the quarter mile area. For me this was what made the whole day so enjoyable. The ability to do a bit of tracktime, then a few quarter mile runs at the drop of a hat was superb. Personal bests were never going to be acheived on that surface but we all had a laugh trying.
A brief break for the best
