The day was a bit of an eye opener, all around really.
The little butterflies that go with a largely untested car and a proposed 300 mile round trip
A 5.45am start and bumping into other travellers, all destined for the same place (and the clubby little waves that go with it)
Some of the nicest modified cars this side of the American hot rod scene (Mk4 Golf with Gallardo interior and wheels!!)
Scorching weather, no shade and uber dear food and drink. I ended up using factor 50 and an umbrella all day but at least I didn't get burned to a cinder in the 30 degree heat
The venue too; never been to Bruntingthorpe and I have to say I can see what the fuss is about. Great access, loads of parking, great vistas with all manor of planes stacked up everywhere and helpful stewards too.
Trev was a proper whore. He tried to buy everything there and I'm sure it was just so he could horde it all at home. I heard him and Jamie talk of having all of East Anglia's mk1 parts and I'm sure I saw him do this

We had a great convoy there and my trip from Leicester to Lincoln to collect some more goodies was good fun too. Very worthwhile and not as far there as I thought, back that up with a direct trip home and I was back indoors by 6.15pm with a car full of bits and a great day behind me.
Thanks to Mike, Trev and Jimbob for the company. Good giggles

Oh by the way, the quickest car of the day was my old favourite, the Berg Cup Scirroco with a 2.7 0-60. Not bad when you think that everyone was 1.5-1.7 seconds down on their PB's due to grip.
