I would like to know if there are any Policemen or women who are members on BP as I would love a question answered by law and not hearsay.

And before anyone says anything I am in no way trying to drop the other BP member in the sh1t or get their fine increased as I fully accept responsibilty for my own actions what I am trying to understand is how there can be so much in consistancy for effectivel the same offence.

This is whats bugging me..

A few weeks back as some of you know myself and another member on here went to Santa Pod and just outside the Pod we both got pulled by the local cops who were obviously on an early morning revenue earner, anyway the crime was incorrect display of front number plate for me at least......anyway I accept that although it is perfectly legable it is on the front of the car on the front bumper but it is set at such an angle it does not conform to the letter of the law.

The other person was not displaying a number plate as such it was shoved inside the windscreen on the passenger side dashboard, so effectivley not visable at all.

The issue I have is that I recieved my fixed penalty notice

Don't forget, they have to add to the equation, height of spoiler multiplied by length of cannards and brand of wheel - they obviously realised that as you're running volks, you have a bigger wallet then someone with SSR's .. simples.

Or they took one look at that carbon wing and thought....chav.....deserves to be charged extra !!

I know the principle is whats getting on your nerves but personally (and for the sake of not being looked out for or stopped again) then I would leave it.

I also heard people with Veilside bumpers get off with cheaper rates......

I don't think that you'll get a straight answer John, and that will be your biggest frustration mate. If the original booking officer (no idea what the correct parlance is) said that your offence was different to Chris' then you don't have a leg to stand on. I know it's bollocks, you know it's bollocks but since when did bureaucracy and common sense ever meet?

By all means PM Rob S on here but I am really not sure what he'll be able to advise as it's almost impossible to comment on without seeing all of the evidence and how it was recorded by the PC at the time.

Ben's comment made me smile though...........Volks vs SSR's.....but Chris' have just been refurbed!!

Could it be that having the plate in the car could be seen as the plate fell off and will be fixed at the next chance.

Whereas yours is permanently mounted in a place they don't like?

I tried to find out what the codes meant as you've clearly been done for different offences.

The only thing I can find for RC86111 is "No manufacturers weight plate" and nothing on google for VE94094????

There's a document held within this page and offences are listed. Because road traffic law is viewed by some as "black or white", there is less ambiguity with offences, although this can of course still occur. If you've got the time left before you reply to the fixed penalty notice, make some enquiries as to why it's being treated differently. (All forces have professional standards departments that are there to ensure fairplay and that standards and regulations are complied with) Bottom line is, there is a process these officers have started that may well go to court unless you accept the ticket. You run the risk of an increased penalty if found guilty of the offence they have said you've committed, so you need to see what the tariffs are for both offences. If there's a cross over, you might be wasting your time.

Page 115 and then 116 refer to your offence code and wording being obsolete and the fine increased. A braver man than me might challenge this.....this site can be quite useful too...
