it appears the guy survived the accident due to the rollcage fitted although i do not know what his "survived" condition is, hopefully just a knock or two.

Interesting observation on the MLR thread: Just where were the marshalls and flags?

Do they have marshalls at the Ring? I couldn't see any from that vid on the approach. If the place was closed for a dedicated track day it doesn't appear to have been administered very well. IMO

160mph was a guess, I wouldn't put too much credence in that claim. It's a 15 mile course including the GP track. When you think that somewhere like Snett only has 9 or ten marshalls over 1.9 miles, the practical needs of 'manning' a track over 7 times the size? Factor in the high number of drivers that are not familiar with the track, the lack of run off and the disparity of user speed, it's a recipe for carnage. As for marshalls at that stage of the circuit? It's pretty straight with no severe camber changes, no tricky corners and it's within a mile of the pits. I presume they assess the risk and staff accordingly.

Glad no-one was seriously hurt. Were it not the the cage and proper seats etc, it could have been so much worse.
