Diesel engine

Post by DR GREENTHUMB »

Hello all, i know this is probably the wrong place to post this but i wanted as many people as poss to see it. I am now about to do a diesel conversion to my suzuki sj off roader & need to know if any body knows if a ford seirra gear box will fit onto a 1.8 diesel escort engine or if any other RWD gear box will fit. Any help or info would be great.

Cheers. Matt.

Hi pablo, sorry for the late reply. The engine is from a 97(P) escotr van, hope this helps a bit.

Cheers. Matt.

I need to find out what gearbox was originally on that engine. As I know the 1.8 si & Gti used the mt75 box, just not sure about the van. Will try and get an answer to you by the end of the weekend as am very busy at the moment with TA this weekend.

Cheers mate. Will find out what box is on it tomorrow & let you know. It would be so much easier to do it that way than make a sandwich plate, have the fly wheel machined, etc, etc. Thanks for your help mate, will have to buy you a pint at next meet if your there.

Cheers. Matt.

Hello all , ian, i might have an sj for sale once i have finished doing my engine swap. Its my spare. Its an sj 410 but it will have the 1300 engine from mine in it. Ideal as a stepping stone if you want to get into off roading. Might be able to have a little deal if your interested  . Will get some pics up asap , will also post some pics of the swap as an on going project.

Cheers all . Matt.
