Practical Performace Car - Feature out now

Post by pablo »

right been on my other website just checking it out and came across this request

I have been contacted by a car magazine to supply them with an XR4x4 2.8/2.9 V6 XR4x4 for a session/article they are doing next week on Wednesday 5th September at Cadwell Park, Lincolnshire.

The article is to do with usable track day cars and they so far have a tuned mk2 Toyota MR2, 3ltr Alfa 75, Pug 205 with Mi16 engine, a Mini metro with a VVT engine in it and a BMW 320 Touring Car plus a couple of more that I couldn't write down in time so the faster the 4x4 the better! Car would also need to be "reasonably" presentable for the pictures.

Anyone intreseted please PM me ASAP.

Remember it is at 2pm next Wedneday, 5th September at Cadwell Park and you would be doing this under the XROC banner for obvious promotional reasons.

Thanks

the end result is that we are off to cadwell on wednesday for the magazine feature and to keep all the comparisons
fair there is a profesional drive taking all the cars out on track.
the magazine is called practical performance car magazine.
what a year this has been and what a way to end it with all the problems and isuess we have had at the start

anyone fancy coming up for a day out and watching some nice cars

Well done guys :thumb:

These guys have done similar articles before (or was it Track and Race car?) and they look like great fun.

I may well come along and see how you're getting on. Just such a shame it's watching and not doing on my part :(

What a long day took a slightly different route to cadwell as it looked shorter on the map but it actually took us longer to get there. Then as we were nearin Cadwell we missed our turning and as I went to do a u-turn got pulled over by an unmarked police BMW Touring :( . Nothing wrong just think he wanted a closer look at the car, nice chap as it turned out.
Got to Cadwell at lunchtime and soon met up with Stuart, Pete and slarty bartfast.

First thing was to get something to eat after that long journey
The photo shoot started at about 3pm and as they had decided to use our car as one of 2 cars for the main driving / action shots we did not finish shooting until after 5pm. Then is time for the professional driver to take the cars around the curcuit  All went well and we were finally finished by 7pm.
They said they wanted to use our car for the front cover shot of the magazine :o

Time to head off home as both me and Bart had work the next day with 6am starts so we decided to get a push on and drive straight through. An hour into the journey and we were making good time until a rabbit decided he wanted to play chicken with our car  End result 1 dead rabbit and a smashed front splitter on the janspeed. We pulled off the broken bits and headed off on our way, amile down the road and there was a weird smell so we stopped in a lay by popped the hood and were greeted by water pissing out of a split water hose. The hose had been dislodged and pushed against the alternator. Time to phone the RAC again and while we waited we decided to put the kettle on and have a soothing cup of tea, well what else could we do. A temporay fixed was made to allow us to drive back at a more surdate pace but at least we were able drive it and not have to wait for a flat bed.

If we make the front cover it will have been worth it :-D

was a good day out apart from the suacide rabbit :x
the guy they got to drive the cars was a rally driver not a track driver so was flinging
the car all over the place from what i sore and needless to say i was not happy
with what he was doing as one mistake and ur hitting something hard at cadwell
and as i said to stu i dont like other people driving mine, our cars if i dont know them.

but on the bright side he did say it was a good handling car.

Bart trying in vein to get the car fixed. He knew how to fix it but without a knife and the light fading fast he had to finally admit defeat :(

I guess the only saving grace is that this happened on the way home rather than on the way there.
