Little update... Scooby STILL not moved since ring trip!!!

Post by frayz »

Hey guys,

I gues ive been a little quiet recently due to losing a bit of heart with the car.
Basically you all know that i cooked the brakes and bearings in Germany 9 weeks ago.

Well whats happened since then?.... Not alot to be honest.

The car has sat at Mocom Racing since, Not even been washed!!!
I refurbed and sold my Brembos and ordered a set of 343mm fully floating Alcon monoblock 6 pots. Well after 2 attempts for Alcon to get it right im still waiting on now a 3rd set of brakes to be made.
First set were 4 pots, 2nd set were 370mm with the wrong PCD.. now the 3rd set ive been promised for the 19th of this month.

Im certainly not holding my breath put it that way.. but we shall see.

Ive managed to get another set of pads thrown in FOC (Mintex F2's) for my agrovation.

Watch this space.... :(

I thought about alot of it mate.

I looked at Movit.. but couldnt find a UK dealer and wanted something that was readily available, pads, pistons etc

Ive also looked at the AP kit,, everyones got AP and i would of liked something different, and Alcons are made/designed in the UK.. so i thought that was cool too.

Ive told them that if theyre not ready by the 19th then they can shove the brakes and give me my

Gary, im starting to think that way too.

I just looked at the Alcons and thought they were such a nice bit of design/engineering.

If only they could get me a set for my car.

My criteria was that they had to fit under 17" track wheels, even though i run 18"s on the road. Alcons were the biggest i could fit under the 17"s.

If they dont get em done by the 19th then i think it will just be a 330mm AP 6 pot kit and be done with it.

Agree with Garry. AP's are probably the better option and service parts are readily available. Any problems and you can speak to an engineer on AP's shop floor in 2 minutes.

Absolutely funking fuming!!!!

Ears Motorsport received my 3rd set of Alcons today and dummy fitted them on a car in the workshop to be sure theyre 100% perfect for when i get them.

Basically they dont fit, they needed 2.9mm removed from the radial mount to bring the calipers closer to the hub and then they want me to run 7mm spacers in order make them fit.

Funking 7mm spacers!!!!
That would increase my front track by 14mm!! and then id have to do the reas so that the car was square.

Ive told them to poke the brakes and that i want my money back!! Its been 9 weeks now and after 3 sets of brakes which cost me

Sorry guys but if i wanted the Stoptechs id of bought them first time around... APs were my 2nd choice.

Its a really gay thing to say but i dont like the look of the Stoptechs... I know its not about how they look but for the money i intend on spending.. i want something that looks how i want it to too.
