It's not pretty as it was wired up just to see if it works. and it started, so just got to wire in the contol box now as we are only running on 10 deg ignition. Hope now the plug will stay cleaner as well with the wasted spark.

The Ford EDIS setup is a lovely way to get into engine management, I learnt loads getting an engine running using it, but went onto electronic control shortly after. What I did want to do was to use something like a turbo actuator on the trigger sensor to move its position relative to the crank trigger based on vaccum or boost, as the EDIS is locked at 10deg advance (as its in 'limp-home' mode) only the sensor's position would need to be moved.

Well Bubble, I'll be there anyway just not sure if it will be ready in time for this coming meet, as I have to now wire up the mega jolt control box that will allow me to map it.

cheers PhatBob, yes it all seems to be a nice unit to start with, seems like you have played around a bit, do you think I could benefit from getting a motorsport coil pack for it over the standard unit?

I know that MSD do a plug in conversion but its not really needed until the boost you're running blows the spark out. I've used different coil packs with the EDIS controller so you can have junkyard fun if you want to chop and change.

Wasted spark is where the same coil sparks two cylinders, its set up so that it sparks for the ignition of the cylinder on its compression stroke, and of the cylinder on its exhaust stroke.

I favour wasted spark over coil on plugs because they have less failures, the one issue that you can run into is the coil charging times, those Ford coil packs need 3.8ms charge time, which means that the coils limit the RPM due to the charge time of the firing events, this only really effects speeds over 8k RPM though.
