................Organising our own version of the Sideways Challenge made famous (ish) by TV and media over the last couple of years. I'm pretty sure we could get some kind of assistance from some of our suppliers (You watch them all run and hide ) and it would be a real laugh.
For anyone unitiated with the format, the object of the exercise is to keep the car in a powerslide for as long as possible time wise, plumes of smoke are not necessary although Bladey and co. will no doubt feel that this is a pre-requisite. This event will not be competitive as such but will be a great day out and hopefully a very informative one too. I'm sure the old Driftbox can come in handy too :thumb:
I'm looking for feedback only at this point and the more of it, the better.

At this point this thread is about discussing the potential for an event and based on that, I have no firm idea about what, where or when. It certainly hadn't occurred to me that we would share a car for a 'joint' effort.

keep the ideas and feedback coming.....

so would this be an internal competition?

meaning its just ourselves to beat?

or is this some form of unofficial motorsport series?

call me stupid ( please don't ) but i am just trying to understand the original concept, thats all.
the reason i say is i am looking into buying a track car ( i'm hooked lol ) but rwd hasn't been top of the list.

if this is in your own car as such i might look more into something like a 325 beemer?

Ok Jim,

This is non-competitive officially, but as big kids, we all try our best no doubt :) This may or may not be an exclusive event subject to interest. The Sideways Challenge used to involve Simon de Banke of Scoobynet and some of the guys from the magazines. I have no idea if they still do it and to be honest, don't really care. I don't expect any of us bar the 'drifters' to be any good in real terms but it could just be a really good day out having a laugh and giving our cars a really good workout. More experience and great for car control I would have thought too.

As for what the Driftbox is, have a look at driftbox.com.
