If this vid was taken in Japan or The US i am sure you would be loving it. There are videos of
RE Amemiya floating about of there race cars on the motorways doing well over 180 MPH racing.
Andy Barnes drag racing the sumo power sky bus on the street
MR nagata of top secret doing 194 MPH on the A1
The list is endless.

I m not a fan of this type of thing after seeing inocent people killed by twats racing around

I dont like to Criticise Stus hard work with the club but i think that at times the forum has tuned into a lounge for junk posts.

Sorry Boys

I thrive on feedback, both good and bad, but I would say that the growth and maintenance of the site is a team effort. We do have some posts of a more 'relaxed' nature, but we also have some brilliant reviews of trips, great buyers guides and informative threads on how to win friends and influence people

You could always address the balance Scott by sharing some of your knowledge in our technical section.

Cheers

I never enjoy watching the street racing vids whether here or abroad but the vid in question was a real mickey taker eg donuts in a well known car park etc

For me a forum isnt just about 'technical' posts, its also a place to air jokes and have a bit of friendly banter. If you look at any forum the 'fun'sections always have more posts than the technical ones.

If we just talked about what we had done or were doing with our cars it would seem a bit dull, one of the reasons why I dont check MRC or the RX7club whilst being a wealth of information seems to have the same posts/threads again and again and again.

Some people like putting a load of 'junk' posts and others enjoy putting detailed technical explanations. Scott, I think you are a bit sceptical after putting some very good technical posts on MRC but being criticised about them eg your water injection ones

This forum has a fun atmosphere which will only get better the more meets/events we attend.

Scott, you get out of it what you put in. I like this forum because there is no click, it is easy going and the members are all people I would happily hang out with, the reason I have less involvement in the other forums is that they have become somekind of anti religous anti this and anti that campaign site basically run by a very small bunch of people ready to pounce on you for the 'wrong' post.

For me I found the 'non' car stuff amusing, we can talk cars all night long at our meets!.

For me the forum is about arranging meets / race days etc, getting a bunch of like minded people together, the site and the chat on here just brings people closer.

OK.

Its not a case of wanting more. I think i may have got the wrong idea about the forum.

The reason that Garath mentioned is my point. I use a car forum to talk about cars. ( that goes with out saying )

TBH ( which i am ) I find all the links to stuff on ebay and cars that now body on here are gonna buy a waste of web space. Just pointless things that make me wonder what the forum is actually for.

I whole reason i got sick of other forums/clubs was the constant rubbish on there.

eg
links to rubbish on ebay.
Post whoring
etc etc.

When the rubbish over takes the quality content i switch over to another channel.

I am hoestly not digging. But the i have tried to get others locally interested in the club. When they checked it out the things i mentioned turned them off. There are to many lounge forums. do we need to create another.

Scott

Without any bias or prejudice, the forum can only ever be a sum of its users and members. You mention that you may have got the wrong idea about the forum- what was your idea of the forum and how has this not been acheived. You've been into modified cars for years, like a lot of us have. Your contributions can help shape the very forums you seem disappointed in. If you would prefer to have a chat or conduct this via email/msn etc, you know where I am. Disenchantment at such an early stage with no quantitative feedback as to your concerns doesn't help us to ensure your enjoy the forums and your role within it's growth.
I'll give you an example. You have or seem to have massive knowledge on rotaries and the development of the RX7. Why not do a buyers guide or tuning guide. Someone like you should be a good advert that disproves the reliability myth. This in itself would be informative and thought provoking. Only an idea, but as has been said before, you reap what you sow. This forum will flourish in the coming months with our events and meets. Be a part of it mate

If that is your opinion then why not only look in the sections of the forum that you are interested in and leave the 'off topic' sections alone?

Just use the forum for what you need and if all the threads of people pulling the piss out of each other are not your thing then just leave them unread.

Again this is not a dig it is merely a question/suggestion.

We could argue this one again and again and again and its the first bit of banter like this thats been on the forum.

Scott I respect you and your knowledge about cars and in particular the Rex, I wouldnt have been where I was without you helping me at various steps of the way.

But what sort of technical knowledge are you hoping for ? Its not like other forums where its specific to the type of car and the issues/faults are generally the same. I would have thought the skylines (an example, dont flame me) have completely different issues than a Rex ?

This forum is quite unique as its a bunch of people passionate about cars and not driving them like complete lunatics. But we also have other interests that I think are worth sharing eg Computer Gaming, photography etc Its nice to talk about these sorts of things and gain knowledge in other areas rather than just cars.

Plus look at all the offers and deals that the forum has secured eg Trackdays, Meets exclusive to the forum, accessories etc

I am not saying you are wrong and that it shouldnt be for anything but cars I just like to have a mixture when I am looking on a forum. I confess to not knowing everything about my car, there are loads of things on the car I dont understand and never will. Therefore whilst being good to read all technical threads etc ultimately I reckon I would get bored and am sure this is true of a number of different people on here.

Also where else can I take the mickey out of Ben, Stu, Dunk plus the others when I know them better :D

Hope you stay with the site mate, it is good having you on board and good to see you at the meets/events. I would push in front of a queue of people to have a passenger ride on a track in your car !!!!

Stick with it, sorry for the long post.
