I find some of these comments most amusing :D

The site has been on a downward spiral, in terms of traffic, for months. I have made repeated comments about increasing traffic through more events and different venues for longer than that (maybe 18 months) It's all easy in theory and so much harder in practice.

I stand by something, a principle that was the single reason I started the forum or club, back in July of 2006. The forum is only a medium for the members or users of that group to use in between events as a way of staying in touch and updated. Events have diminished due to financial pressures of the economy and the position that most of us find ourselves in.

New traffic will reduce as we reach a local saturation point. The forum is largely regional and there are only so many people that would like the look of the club as it stands (a non-bullshit circuit orientated forum) We don't support or encourage street use. We don't support or encourage pub talk. So what does that leave us? If you race, you'll probably use a race forum. If you drift you'll use driftworks. If you trackday...................well, take your pick.

If posts are quiet look at the updates that you guys make to your project threads. Look at the activity in threads regarding reports and photos. Who makes the effort to actually write a proper article? Where are the pioneers of forum writing from 2006? Where have the real project cars gone? Where has the fun elements like the photoshop stuff disappeared?

It is the people that should define the forum and club, not the other way around. I see far too many people saying 'remember the good old days' whilst doing sweet FA to recreate it.

As for Dunk's comments about the forum being quieter than it used to be....... same old shit! :)

Guys, I don't know what to say. I'm doing my best with a format that I don't know or like. The changes were forced upon me so please don't complain. I'm hoping to get some more support with this soon.

In the mean time all I can do is ask that you consider the input you have on YOUR club and forum and see if there is a link between your own input and a downturn in the activity here.

Peace out (as they used to say in the good old days ;) ) Read and digest or read and kick off.

It's YOUR forum and club; you reap what you sow :cheers2:

As Stu said the are many reasons for the site being quiet at present, I also use the Time Attack forum and that has been like my wallet for the past couple of months...empty.
I doubt any one here joined the forum because of how it looked more a case of what it stands for. One of the things that's great about this club is that it opens doors for you, it gives you access to the various different aspects of motor sport / usuage which we are all interested in. We didn't come to BigPower through the Time Attack, we got into the Time Attack through BigPower, I've been able to get an insight and close to the world of Drifting, introduced to the very popular sport of sprinting, amongst others. Where else would this be possible.
We shouldn't be introducing people to the forum, we should be introducing them to the club, imo. The last meet and autotest night is where we need to bring new people. If you are able to go to most monthly meets you probably won't see it so i'll explain.

You turn into snetterton as a track day is finishing and you drive straight to the paddock area where you are met by a sea of exotic and powerful cars and a crowd of people happily chatting and having a laugh without an ego in sight. then just off to the side is a queue of cars calmly waiting to go and play. You then take a moment to look around and you realise that you in a race circuit having a monthly meet and doing an autotest and not in a pub car park paranoid that someone's going to ding your car.

One last thing...How many of you guys actually have a BigPower sticker on your car.........Just a thought.

Here here, Pablo I couldn't have put it better myself, you are absolutely right, the forum is just a tool for the club, I would hope that people think of themselves being club members, not forum members, it's about the events, the getting together to talk cod sh*t about cars, trackdays and actually life in general.

The forum change was a neccessity, not a choice, along with his day job, stuart has spent many hours bringing the forum back up to speed, unfortunately I still see more negative posts about how it looks, how it feels than the positives about what has been achieved - now come on guys, Bigpower is a club, the forum is just an add on, the difference with BP is that events do happen - unlike many forum based clubs that just post ....

Pablo, thank you for your post buddy.

I'm as guilty as much as the next person for not using the forum as much this month.

Its funny though how some pages/features are useful to some. Personally speaking I thought the homepage was a bit of a waste of time and I went straight to the 'new threads' link. The garage was a good feature providing it was kept up to date. There are notifications enabled so not really sure why the email feature is something that causes such a big issue, if you go straight to the main site you can see quickly whether there has been any posts on your threads etc.

It's true though the 'fun' element seems to have gone recently with not much banter going on (something I'm guilty of too).

Stuart I know has been working hard on this to get it resolved and back to how it was but as mentioned earlier it is just a tool to support the club.

It's nice to see that at the recent meet and Autotest there was a good strong support for the club.

Summer is always a much quiter period on the forum and that's the same every year plus the recent climate has prevented a lot of us modding our cars as much as we have wanted to. Plus you only have to look at some of the most recent cars for sale, not all of them by choice.

Lets all do at least 1 positive thing to support the club and help make it as good as it can be !!!

You boys know how to make someone feel guilty, I was mearly making an observation as it seeming quieter round these parts

I agree with the above comments, and certainly wasn't trying to have a pop at anyone or anything.

Not much anyone can say to that really. :D

I for one am guilty of not writing a decent event report or project.

My problem and possibly in general is, you suddenly find a bit of time to get on with something, do it and then realise it might have been a reasonable subject for a project snippet.

For instance, yesterday I decided to do something about the fogged rear light on the RX-8. I'm quite chuffed with the result and thought the method might actually be usefull to someone. Oh well, too late now and I didn't bother with pics as it didn't occur to me.

I'm sure we all do little jobs like that. It wasn't apathy, nor laziness not to have recorded it, it's more a mind set thing.

In fairness to the membership, we know there's something happening (some is quite obvious) but we don't know where we are at any given time. Is this the final version? will there be email notification? We know that Stuart is working on developing the site but he also has a busy life and full (er than most) time job so how much time is he/can he devote to it. Can any of us help in any way?

I must admit I too am guilty of reduced action on here. I can give the usual excuses of busy at work and no time etc but as stated these are only excuses. I rarely get to use the laptop at the moment as it has been the only computermebob in the house for a while but we now have another laptop for the kids so I should be able to get on here more often.

If people are dissapointed with the lack of posts, why not post something that provokes a response? i.e. caption competitions, etc as we used to have.

I for one think Stuart has done a stella job of changing over to v-bulletin. How many of us could have done it so well or at all.I know I would have struggled like hell if i had to do it. Please bare in mind that he does not take a wage or any payment for doing it nor do any of the other people that run events etc and help out with the running of the forum. We do it for the sake of all that we hope enjoy the events and meets so as to try and keep the costs down and entrance fees reasonable. I mean, tell me where else you can have 2 1/2 hours of fun at an autotest at a famous race ciruit for
I may be getting older but I REFUSE to grow up :D

We are lucky this opportunity still exists to communicate between events.
