Just a short request to see if anyone has had their cars mapped by Paul @ Engine Advantages.
Also does anyone know anything about the 'Dastek Unichip'

http://www.dastek.co.uk/unichip.htm - not generally considered to be great along with other piggyback style chips but it depends on the mapper.
I havent heard anything about EA on the mapping side Mike. Have you spoken to Zen Performance re mapping or for the likes of a Power FC?

APK has a Dastek unichip jobbie supplied and fitted by Paul Hills @ EA. It would be worth emailing/Pm'ing him to ask. I know he's currently getting a Power FC if that helps.
Paul is very well regarded and his mapping skills are good, not a bad word to say about him or his work, from what other people have told me.
Dunk's comments are spot on~ you may want to consider a seperate ECU rather than a piggyback chip. The price difference is a factor, but you love using your car hard so I'd be more concerned about safety of the engine and performance than saving a few quid.
Pavlo is very well thought of for mapping Scoobs, you could try Zak @ Mocom too.
Good luck and keep us posted.

I know a number of GT4 owners had Dastek unichips fitted in years gone by, and most of them had big problems - ranging from little improvement to blown engines.
ECUs are only as good as the mapper, but the mapper is limited by the technology. Personally, I would stay away.

Thanks to you both for your comments......
Zak @ Mocom is looking at the car on friday...
I have the chip and the mapping was done by EA, although i was lead to believe that another well known Scooby mapper was doing the work.
I was advised that the piggy back was the route to go.
I've had a few issues, and the car is now on it's second complete re-map.
I'm not sure it was really the mappers fault, but i have lost some confidence in the car, although your comments Stuart, have helped to put my mind at reast a little!

Zak will sort it for you Mike.
What problems are you having - do you want to start a thread in the Technical Section on it? It would be useful to have the problem documented and hopefully the eventual solution

I would post up, but i think with this issue, that it may be related to individuals/companies and i guess thats not fair to raise the issues on a public forum.
