Does having a roll cage make your insurance rocket in price - or is that an Urban myth.

Also, can you buy a roll cage for the R32 that doesn't require cutting into the dash and is easily installable in sections.

Does anyone on here have a caged R32 - if so - how much did it cost to do - I'd be looking at a full cage plus door sections.

(Playing Import tuner has made me want one )

I have no proof only what people have told me, and yes it does make it go up, for this possible reason and not for the fact that you'll be nice and safe in your car, but that your car will make more damage to other cars if it was hit, there for cost more to repair. .... But I might be wrong, it has been known!

With regards to insurance, it depends on the company. I think Adrian Flux are fine with cages.

Its a dash dodger which I'll have to sell out some point to get one that goes through the dash.

no its not welded it . Its a bolt in one , it comes with plates to go under the car that you bolt through it giv eit more strength. make the car very ridged.

Excellent feedback guys - Another stupid question ...

Do you need to cut through the carpet or can you simply mount it through it i.e. when I went to remove it later?.

I'm assuming that you simply assemble the cage inside the car - make sure it's sat in the correct position - then drill through your floor and mount the external plates - and merrily bolt it in .... plus of course treating your new holes with a rust repellant of some kind?.

I mounted mine under the carpet and just cut circular wholes for the bars to come through.

I beleve the diagonal of the 6 point wouldn't be a problem with the rear seats in. but the side paneling would need wholes cutting in them.

yep assemble in the car making shore you get it central ( I got mine 1/4 inch to the passenger side, woops) then drill and bolt in place. I also put a load of sylicone in between the plate and the understide of the floor so that water couldn't collet in between and rot the floor.

I've seen the 6 point fitted in an S14 with the rear seat still in place, not sure if it would be the same with an R32.

You'll also need to cut holes in the rear quarter trim pannels for the cage to fit (or remove them all together).
