That is what I am having done to mine while the engine is out. Rising Sun Performance are making me a custom large capacity sump with probably a Tomei baffle kit.

I know about that thanks Ben, am planning to get either a sump baffle or/and a deeper sump.

Was going to start a different thread but as it has been brought up now what is the benefit of each (deep sump and sump baffle) and which should i go for?

Have you looked at the accusump, Stuart has one fitted, it's a pressurised reservoir that holds oil - Stuart, does it replace the need for an extended sump?

Geoff,

I wouldnt bother with a Tomei baffle kit - it didnt save mine, and I know a couple of others that went with one fitted !!

Ron K does a nice gated sump that VERY large, or the good old Trust extension is a winner which comes with a new baffle and extended pickup.

Personally I would consider a dry sump for not alot more circa

The accusump kit doesn't do away with the need for an extended sump but it's a very good accompaniment to one, imho. It does pump more oil into the engine in low pressure situations. In mock testing, Gary @ APT and I wanted to know how long the accusump could supply oil in enough pressure to the engine to avoid the 'red light of death' oil warning light. To do this we removed the sump plug and drained the engine oil completely. Then switched the ignition around so that 'rlod' came on, then we switched the accusump on. The 'rlod' went off immediately indicating 10psi or more in the engine and the light stayed off 40 seconds until the accusump was empty. Pretty impressive I thought :thumb:

Accusumps fill up with a pressure of oil from the engine's supply.

40 seconds of oil pressure... How much better is that going to be for your turbo to have some oil movement as it spins down?

I can't see any negatives in the Accusump system.

I'd be interested in one of these - just a small one mind.

Do we have any suppliers onboard for them?

Will look at having one of these and an oil cooler for next year :D

Stuart, what did it cost for the accusump and installation? ... and there more than one size.

Back to how it works, so do you put say 4.5 litres in the engine - then suck it into the Accusump, then top up the oil to the relevant level?.

Where does it connect into the engine - is it a case of drilling into the sump and tapping the connection?.
